I went to Target 🎯 the other day looking for an extension cord. I couldn’t find one, so I asked one of the 20 something yr old employees where I might find one. He had no clue what I was talking about. I’m dead serious. He asked me to explain to him what an extension cord is used for. 😑 After explaining what it is, he had to ask another employee for help. Unbelievable! I finally looked it up online while still in the store and was able to find one. God help us.

The last time, AUG 2021, I went to an Ace Hardware, the unmasked manager, told me I could not shop there unless I wore a mask. Why? Because he heard ... someone ... in my family ... tested positive for COVID. I lived alone at that time, and don't know to what family he was referring. For multiple reasons, I cannot further restrict my breathing. I never returned to that store.

Home Depot and Lowes have recently changed how you order kitchen cabinets. Used to be you sat down with a knowledgeable sales rep in the store who'd draw up the kitchen plan and place each cabinet on the diagram according to your specifications. It was simple and efficient and the cabinets arrived in 4-6 weeks. NOW, all human contact is removed and the cabinets are ordered through a series of zoom meetings with a sales rep on the other end of your internet. We had four such zoom meetings and ordered and paid for our cabinets without stepping into the store. That process took about three weeks and the wait for the cabints another few weeks. I had no real complains about it. WOrked out fine, but we are internet savvy and some people don't have a clue about how to do zoom and speak to someone right on your computer. in those cases, they said some people may have to go to one particular store across the state to speak to a designer

Dan, talking about Hooters. I'm in Clearwater, FL. I was about 20 years old when the original Hooters opened here in Clearwater, on Gulf to Bay Blvd. It's still there. Me and some friends stocked an Albertsons at night right down the street. That original Hooters used to be a biker bar. Some locals bought it for a meeting place. When Hooters first opened, me and boys would go there at 11:00am, after work. They didn't even have their liquor license yet. They could serve us beer but couldn't charge us for it. So we paid in tips. We loved that place and the original Hooters girl Lynne Austin was serving us. She hung out with us a lot. I had a boat and we'd take her and her friends out on the Gulf of Mexico and hit the beaches. It was some good times!

In 2025 SSA(social security administration) will fully implement AI, they have been working on it for two years now. One of the things it will do is screen for disability benefits. The UK did this in the last few years, 100s of thousands were erroneously denied their benefits. An employee whose job it was to detect problems and discrepancies with the AI was ignored and silenced (eventually fired) about the magnitude of the problems. She had to sue the government in court to get it corrected. AI is not your friend

You download an app in Bam. They got everything on you. They control your phone everything I had I believe it was it was up JCPenney app I believe, and do you mind if we track you across your travels through your phone on the Internet ? I said, go ahead . I don’t go any place I shouldn’t go. I mean, I do go on my mobile banking, but I don’t keep that on my phone actually go to the website and login. And I make sure the website is legit. I get that all the time all of a sudden my phone will just shut off or things freeze up. And it isn’t anything to do with scams or infected phone. Another thing is true don’t give cell phone number to anybody you’re better off to go and pay whatever it is 30 dollars a year and get yourself a magic jack go to give yourself phone out because you just give it to one wrong person or somebody can track you and Bam. They’ve sold it and everyone hasn’t scammed phone calls from everybody every scammer in the world.

I repeated my order FOUR TIMES to the stupid automated computer voice at the drive-up speaker, and it still didn't get it... I said "Screw it", pulled out of line, and waved at the guy at the pick-up window as I drove by. I waved to him again as I pulled into the McDonalds right next door. All of it makes me nostalgic for the ease in which these things used to just work. Your right, it just seems like a shell of what used to be and I don't think too many people enjoy communicating with ai over dealing with people. The other day I used cash instead of a card and it was twice as fast as usual and I just had to wait for the cashier to count out the change, which I didn't mind. It very simple to go shopping and cook at home. if need to eat while your out, pack a lunch. but smarter folks prefer to get hungry, as a 'fasting period' because it more healthy to eat less. "break-fast' is absolutely a no no, along with snacking.. One full meal/day, Dan. It costs less and you live longer with the right foods.

An elderly neighbor had unclear hospital discharge info. Helping her call the hospital one line was AI, identified as this is AI with inadequate options. Another hospital phone number had a voice-mail recording letting employees know which shifts needed coverage asking employees to fill shifts. Not much help. Let's hope 911 doesn't use AI to answer the phone

I was wondering why the doors were locked at my local taco bell when the doors advertised they were open. I left and didn't go through the drivethru. I think I'll just stay away and save money anyway. About AI: Hate it. I have been automated off of a clerical job at least twice in my life. Went to Menards last week. I am a D-I-Yer redoing small projects on my house. It was hard to find help. I ran into a contractor customer who volunteered the info I needed or I would still be looking at the wrong section.
