The option to "take control" of blueprints is great. I've even had some of my own blueprints I would like to convert to regular automations to make tiny changes.

Jeff thinks for a good video. I like your videos cuz they're to the point and you show and explain what the changes are. Especially for those of us that have been using home assistant for years and have a bunch of stuff buried in our yaml. Great content as always

The one I'm most excited about is the blueprints one. I have one particular blueprint that I've asked the writer to add a second method of notification, but he never responded. It looks like I'll be able to do that myself!

Jeff, how about a video on creating HA scenes using the current version of HA? I was just going to do my first one for the new Sonoff "Smart Water Valve" and a Sonoff "Mini Smart Light Switch" to activate a Pond pump in the rain barrel, with a switch connected to the mini smart light switch when the wife wants to "Manually" activate the garden watering feature. I can not believe that there are no easy to understand KZbin videos with the current version of HA.

Nice video. But I just installed version 2024.7 and the call service "notification.alexa_media" in automation actions no longer exists. What to do now? Thank you.

It's still listed in my services and I'm on 2024.7

Oh. I see. The entities are all unavailable. Hmm. Looks like an issue has already been raised.

Looks like the api is timing out. Too many requests. I'm going to disable mine for a bit and then reenable. Stop the flood of reconnect requests.

Jeff, great video. What will you do when Visual Studio for Mac goes away? Use it until it breaks? Find an alternative right away? I'm a complete noob to text editors, and I'm trying to decide between options like Bbedit, Sublime. What's best for light/casual users vs full-on developers? I really like the little code thumbnail on the right. When I wrote Pascal at school, I remember navigating my code by shape.

I'll go back to Sublime Text. That had been my editor of choice prior to VS Code. Its really good, and has a lot of the same features. Actually I should prolly start moving back to that. I dont remember if the HA yaml support is the same as VS Code. Might need to build something.

The template-device link is super helpful, but I don't think I will ever use it, because all my template sensors are in yaml.

Can you help me fox the bugs listed in my list? I can’t figure them out.

i'm just waiting for them to finally fix ZHA :(

ut oh. whats going on with ZHA?
@i_am_not_a_pro_but_lets_try3 ай бұрын
@@SlackerLabs since October last year, ZHA regularly decides to stick initialising. Happens multiple times a week. It's been raised as a bug, with no sign of an actual fix, just gets closed as resolved.

@@i_am_not_a_pro_but_lets_tryDo you have the multi-protocol firmware enabled? It was intended to allow your Zigbee dongle to support both Zigbee and Thread simultaneously. Home Assistant devs officially announced that they do not recommend multi-protocol and that it should be disabled. I was having the same issue as you (also back in October) and once I disabled it, everything has worked smoothly ever since. Since I did have a couple of Thread devices, I bought an additional dongle (Sonoff dongle Plus-E) and flashed it with the Thread exclusive firmware. It also works smoothly. I'm now running my Zigbee network via the Skyconnect dongle and the Thread network via the Sonoff dongle Plus-E.
