Courting (not dating). BF/GF relationships are not real commitments. Any party in that relationship can decide to leave at any time without any repercussions as there was no paperwork, no vow before God, etc. Same with courtships, but the process of courting is far different than the typical American bf/gf relationship/dating. Regardless, before you're married, you are still technically single because you have not been joined to anybody else in holy matrimony. The process of marriage, in its biblical sense, is to bind together two souls to create one..when that happens you are no longer "single".

+XclusiveChiq Honestly, I think our elders had a better concept of relationships. Back in the day, there was a concept of "dating" and there was a concept of "going steady." You had the right to date whoever you wanted to, because dating was just getting to know someone. "Going steady" meant that the two of you mutually agreed that you would only date each other exclusively. It was talked about and agreed upon. These days, there is not that level of communication. People simply assume if you like each other and go out, there is an automatic commitment. I don't think that's what real relationships are. People assume because they are thinking a certain way, their partner must be thinking the same, and more often than not, its not the case. Sometimes a person can love you in the sense of having deep affection for you, can like being around you, would do almost anything for you, but is simply not ready for a committed relationship, especially when they're young. They still have that desire to "explore." Marriage is the actual commitment, both legally, morally, etc. Until then, there is only getting to know people, and if two people have mutually agreed to see only each other and they feel that they want that "wife or husband in training" type of relationship, then great. But until that is mutually communicated, understood and agreed upon, there is no true commitment n the sense of exclusivity.

I personally believe in monogamous serious relationships. I don't call a man my boyfriend until I love him. and currently, I love my boyfriend, and it feels like this love is the kind that's forever. I only have eyes for him and he meets all of my needs. so there's no reason for me to go to anyone else but him. the intimacy I share with him is everything to me, our friendship and love and partnership is my life, and I love my life.
