As someone who's engaged, marriage for me is basically the ultimate commitment. I can't imagine my life without my fiance, I just can't. It's two people deciding that they want to be together for their rest of their life. I can understand why it isn't for some people, or maybe the right person have to come along. A lot of people aren't ready for something like that, they are still are selfish and want to do what they want. Make sure to wear condoms or use birth control if you want that life though, because when you have child you can't be selfish anymore. So because 60% of marriages end in divorce (which doesn't even get into the specifics of why people divorce) we forget about the other 40%? They touched on the issue of finances and said they weren't down to share funds. Let's say two people in a relationship both make 50K and they have their own places. If things are great between the two, why wouldn't you want one household bringing in 100K?! Granted, that's an ideal situation, but it's realistic for a lot of people.
