Dear Dan, I just wanted to express my gratitude for you and your videos. I spent a few months trying different "brain retraining" programs, but quickly became overwhelmed with all the information and the feeling that I needed to be "doing" so many things to heal. Returning to your channel is like a breath of fresh air. Your videos are simple and so affirming. Thank you.

I've recently hitched my wagon to your train after someone linked to one of your videos in a good CFS group. My Psychologist has been telling me for ages that she thinks 80% of my symptoms of CFS & balance stuff are produced by or amplified by anxiety. I've been calling it Mistaken Protective Responses, which works for me. It's dawning on me that I don't have to be scared any more. I'm changing the narrative.

I can relate in so many situations. We had a vacation planned to Lake Tahoe as we do every year. Previous trips were filled with activities, boating, zip lining, parasailing etc…. Three days before departure I had myself so worked up even thinking of the short 3 hour drive I was in bed with my pain 10/10. I had convinced myself I would fail the whole family. Last week my friend called me out on my inability to make a commitment and I was furious! But soon realized I need to stop being afraid I might be in pain that day I’m slowly starting to say yes to myself first. Yes I’m going to walk today. Yes I might hurt but I hurt anyway so what’s the difference. Slow and steady. The minute I’m busy and distracted I’m fine. Funny thing is my friend who’s had a incredible amount of stress has developed chronic knee and back pain. She’s demanding a MRI. I’m sure it’s her sudden life change and nothing is wrong with her knee or back. My plan for today and only goal is to get myself off this bed and do my walk all by myself to enjoy the flowers and birds. Thank you Dan❤

We cannot stop our brain from protecting us. That's it's job. Our job is to influence it by teaching it there is no danger. Just perceived. It's an incorrect opinion. Do your best not to add any secondary fear to your perceived inability to control something that is not directly in our control. Focus on the fundamentals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3yogKWpZqhojZY After that, it's about teaching safety: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6ucdq1qbrJrf8k

@@PainFreeYou There’s another person on KZbin that I’ve been watching for years. Dennis Simsek-The Anxiety Guy. One of his videos points out that “We are not protected by being reactive; we are not protected by worrying about our symptoms.” You and him, from different perspectives, teach a lot of the same things. Would you be interested in doing an interview with him? I think it would be a great help in both your communities because TMS and anxiety are closely linked. Let me know what you think.

I look forward to the testimony of the person with the six surgeries. I have two and I am having a hard time teaching my brain that there is no physical harm anymore. Especially since when I make certain movements I hear a repetitive sound that does not cause me pain but makes me very nervous. They put me in a titanium box with screws to cause the fusion and for months the doctors taught me to feel fear through the diagnoses of lumbar rectification and facet syndrome. These videos are very helpful. thanks Dan

I don't know that they will do a full interview, but this was their comment to me. "After 6 back surgeries the last surgeon said let’s go up another disc!!! I thought 7 is ridiculous !!! I knew it was TMS! Someone told me that spine surgery is usually a 50/50 chance of helping. Then if you have had any trauma in your past it takes that stat below 20% chance of helping! After 26 years of back pain and trying everything under the stars for help I found Dans videos. On the pain scale of 1-10, most of those years I was a 10plus!!! Today has been stressful and I am probably a 2!!! That is a miracle! I am getting there thanks to Dan!!!💗"

The hard part is you have an entire medical community telling you the symptoms are real and have a physical cause. My PTs laughed at me when I suggested PDP to them. They pointed out I have real problems from a herniated disc from my MRI
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 4 ай бұрын
The symptoms ARE real, but the cause is not. Don't let people who don't know how PDP works tell you that you are broken. The medical community is not taught this stuff. You know more than them. What is their proof the disc is the actual cause of the pain? Because that's what they were taught in medical school. You can figure it out with the assessments. IsThisPDP.com - one or more "True" answers on the FIT assessment and your disc is not to blame. And any PT who laughs at you is not worth another visit. They are harmful, not helping you.

Like the other person, I too started binge watching your videos, took the pain test and got 48 out of 50. My story is that I've had hormonal migraines since I was 12 yrs old, I'm 49 yrs old now and perimenopausal and then a few years ago I started getting auras as well whenever there was a stressful situation. ( and there have been many stressful situations ever since I separated from my 18 yr marriage) because of the auras I started getting terrible anxiety and have been going crazy trying to deal with it. I am now trying your method and i know it's going to be challenging but giving it a shot. Thank your for the videos 🙏

You could have been talking directly to me, Dan. I haven't been in the group for a month because I wanted to focus on my ankle rehabilitation (broken ankle and TIA's). We're flying to Perth in a month and I wanted to be more mobile. I thought I was doing well until one day at the gym on the treadmill, my ankle began to hurt, so I slowed down. Just afterwards my butt became very painful and I've found it very difficult to walk. My mind is constantly bombarded with undesirable thoughts and I've no sooner dealt with one, there is another close behind. I've become quite anxious and fearful, and though I know I need to calmly reassure myself, I'm finding this a challenge. The sciatic pain is there most of the time. I've been given exercises to strengthen and stretch the area but I'm confused as I know you've said that focusing on treatment when it's TMS is not a good idea. I expect I'll be back in the group as I miss the support.

How is it that the message I need to hear comes at precisely the morning I need to hear it? Have been so worried about my son going back to school and I knew exactly why the pain came back yesterday during my run. It was like, "come on,, I know why this is happening" yet, the fear that this pain would linger, almost had me in the same fear response as in the past. I think I need to join your group for a while. I really love your videos just foundend recently and beggin feeling little bit more happy, really hope I'm getting on the way out of long covid, listen maybe you've already answer this but in case of long covid isn't that the case that the brain percibing danger comes exactly from the rests of spike protein still inside the body? This is a question around my mind and if it is can I still train my brain above this spike rounding in my body and get recover? Thanks
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 11 ай бұрын
What I believe is that many of the symptoms believed to be "long covid" are actually symptoms coming from a brain perceiving danger. The more you focus on spike proteins, the more fear you are creating. Trust the body, teach the brain. People are getting well from this "long covid" with a mindbody approach. Ive watched most your stuff and took the pain test and scored 45, will get the book when its out too but im really struggling with accepting tms sometimes. I believe ive damaged my thumb sheath on a fall, mri came up with a small tear to my UCL that healed a while ago [been 3 years now]. Ive physio'd it more than enough but the tendon doesnt glide right over the metacarpel on my thumb. I wanna go get a muskoskeletal Ultrasound now but i can feel myself spiralling again thinking somethings erong with me. The surgeon basically kicked me out of his office after he told me the mri didnt show anything that shouldnt heal but now ive got it ij my head that i need an MSK ultrasound. Other peoples thumbs dont do this so when i look at my thumb tendon moving abnormally i feel pain [or convince myself] should i just go get the msk ultrasound? Love you dan!

Your job is to teach your brain you don't have a physical problem. 45 means your pain BEHAVES like TMS, not a structural problem. That means it IS TMS and nothing else.
