Thank you Dan for the reminder that this process doesn't have to be complicated. I often find myself getting overwhelmed thinking about all the things I need to "do" to address symptoms (how to respond to thoughts, send messages of safety, etc.). Your statement that we should focus more on living life is what I will hold on to and remember in those moments!

I agree 100% Dan but right for the last few days my Fibromyalgia (PDP) is at a 10. Everything hurts: head, back, arms, legs, gut, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, brain fog and headaches - unbearable! I just feel that at times like these it's too big to overcome even though I know it's TMS.

Thank you for the positivity! I try not to complain too much but this week has been tough. Normally I can get the symptoms to calm down to a tolerable level through breathing and other techniques but right now my head is a volcano. Still hoping to get everything down to zero some day. It makes perfect sense Dan. Thank you so, so much! I tried Dr Shubiner's programme, but I just got very confused and more stressed (although I have a great deal of respect for him). It just didn't work for me, too much shit in my past, and I instinctively knew it wasn't going to calm my nervous system down. Your message, that all you have to do is give your brain consistent messages of safety, even when in pain, made sense. My nights can still be painful off and on, but it really doesn't make sense for my post surgical foot pain pain to ramp up when I have my feet up, wear socks or normal shoes, or walk barefoot. Two sets of MRIs have failed to explain this. The pain and sensitivity, whilst I was pandering to my brain's fear, just got worse and worse. I love walking, I did enjoy dancing. I'm sticking with your principles now until I can do both painlessly, however long it takes! Thank you again for showing me the way so clearly.

Some very practical advice. Some many of us; including me, live in a near constant mental state of fear, fight or flight. For me, physical pain defintely increases when in a state of fear and panic and decreases when I feel relaxed and calm. Practice feeling calm everyday. Practice feeling safe everyday. I wish we all find safety and comfort in our hearts, mind, emotions and spirit. 15:37 Helpful content in this video. Thanks🙏♥️

I’ve done the assessment like 5 times now lol and I fit the profile perfectly even going back 35 years. I’ve always internalized emotions into sickness and physical pain, that is plain to see. Yet I have had very intense pelvic /groin pain for almost 3 years now that has not acted the same as any other chronic pain in my life. It’s unrelenting, more constant, much more life altering. I’m slowly getting there convincing myself that it’s also PDP. One remaining doubt that seems to be holding me back - is ALL chronic pain PDP? I keep thinking yeah but surely there are people in chronic pain that actually have a physical reason behind the pain…isn’t arthritis painful? Isn’t a trapped nerve painful? You see where I am going. Sometimes there is a physical issue right? All chronic pain can’t be generated only by the brain perceiving danger can it? This is keeping me stuck….

Hi Dan, I’d love to know your thoughts on allergies, mold, etc. a curious thing occurs many times I’m at my parents in California that I’ll wake up most mornings with 2-3 hours of allergies (a conditioned response I’m feeling because it largely only happens in the mornings.) When I’m at my own place in New York I don’t have that same response for the most part (outside from fall time or “cold weather”). I’m wanting to relocate back to CA but the morning allergies have been frustrating and feel a distraction to my work so the ego is telling me it’s not possible to thrive here. I asked them to get the place tested for mold in the past and there was minor amounts but they didn’t check the actual infrastructure for it. The mind is telling me this is because of mold and dust. They won’t check for mold or get rid of their carpets and old furniture. I’m doing my best to tell myself this is perceived danger and the sensations are really frustrating me.

Hi Dan can I have a question? I met someone a few days ago and the encounter mad me feal fearful. And because of that I felt a lot of anger. That day I let my anger out once I was alone and safe, but I wondered if that was the right response. I wondered that maybe such a reaction only strenghtens and enables the fear for the next time? I thought a better response might have been to remain calm and ignore the intrusive thoughts? Could you tell me what do you think is better?

With migraines, it is very hard to ignore the pain and move around as usual. I get them for days too with intense nausea. I just try to not engage my triggers. I tell my brain that trigger ie., sugary thing I want is not worth it. I feel that sense of safety with my meds and peppermint oil, cbd balm. And I feel much calmer with a med change. Found one that doesn't make me feel like roadkill after.

I have a job that I see many young people’s medical records. Degeneration starts for everyone in their 20s-30s. The term is really not appropriate. Degeneration is viewed as negative. It’s not. Dr. Sarno said these are normal changes! So don’t listen to these doctors. They have been taught wrong (on purpose but that’s info is for another conversation!).

Hey Jim. I'm sorry you've had such a terrible accident. There is a big difference between acute pain and chronic pain. Just curious, how long ago was the neck break? Was the spinal cord damaged? I never said injuries don't happen. They sure do. But injuries do heal. How come yours hasn't? Did the doctors tell you that your break will never heal due to this constant tissue damage from the cells being destroyed daily and you will have pain forever? Your pain does still have to do with the brains perception of danger. All pain is created in the brain. Even structural pain. The brain senses this rubbing on a nerve and the brain must interpret that as dangerous to decide to turn on pain to protect you from using your neck too much. Pain is always a warning signal. In chronic pain, it is often a false alarm. Have you watched my fast start playlist? DansFastStart.com If this concept that's been around for decades isn't relevant to you, feel free to disregard. I'm just trying to help as many people as I can. I wish you all the best either way.
