The Government’s plan to limit the payments to the poorest pensioners passed by 348 votes to 228, a majority of 120.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy has called climate change a more serious and widespread threat than terrorism.
In his first speech, 100 days into the role, Lammy said addressing climate change and the decline of nature would be a top priority for the Foreign Office.
He also announced plans for a global initiative to speed up clean energy adoption.

Well let’s do a little maths. Say a weekly pension is £200 a week at the lowest rate. The minimum wage is £11 per hour. Let’s say a 37 hour week. So the minimum amount to live off by the government’s definition is £407 for a week. Why do they think a pensioner is rich when they have to live off half of that amount? Oh and at £200 a week there’s no pension credit or fuel allowance.

Who is this guy, same BS response, the triple lock rise in pensions MIGHT add £ 460, GROSS to my pension next year, except every pound of this £460 will now be taxed at 20% making this increase worth only £368, but Labour have just taken away £300 winter fuel allowance plus the fuel company is increasing my bills by approx 10% THIS YEAR which is about an additional £150 this year. Even before accounting for inflation this means I will be over £140 per year worse off under this new labour government while the hypocrites get £3,000 fuel allowance for their homes plus a minimum salary of £94,000 I don't even get a full state pension but I cannot get pension credit. How can they possibly justify this?

Look let's be honest. Sure, we do need to find a way to reduce our greenhouse gases... but... it needs to be a global effort. When you have countries like China pumping out more CO2 than ever, it doesn't matter what decent countries like the UK do. Does that mean we should bail? No. But, in the grand scheme of things, keeping our pensioners warm this winter (and let's hope it's a mild one) is more of a priority. Also, electric cars still use gas to produce the electric, it's just the fuel isn't taken at a pump. This labour government is going to punish the pensioners to make the previous government look like it was their fault. Don't get me wrong, I believe resident doctors (or junior as they have been known), nurses, teachers, etc, all deserve a decent wage. But how in the world can you justify a 22% pay increase over 2 years but tell pensioners they must find other ways of keeping warm this winter. Labour is going to do what labour always does... bankrupt the country, bring it to its knees, then sod off and let someone else sort it out. Sure, Fishy Rishy needed to go (after what he did to Boris), but labour is incompetent, and this new government is riding rough shot over us because they can. No increase in the personnel allowance , till 2028 I believe , so now far more pensioners paying tax,no winter fuel payment and possibly taking away the the single discount council tax ,all he says is the pensioners getting the triple lock , but they’re going to be paying more tax .

Well there’s over 800 thousand pensioners that entitled to it if they sign up to pension credit if they did it would it will cost a lot more than 1.5 billion
