This really seems to give a picture of what people were like! Just human! The modest, classic fashions of the 60s have had me fooled all these years, and I’ve I’ve spent probably too much thought romanticizing this era, and maybe even the decades before it. I was born in the mid sixties, so I was 3 years old when this little movie was produced. All my life, I have kept wishing I was born in the earlier past, such as the 1910s, 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s. But, this movie lets me know, a little bit more, that people are almost the same as the were decades ago. Thank you for posting this.

This reminds me of a marriage class years ago. They said a math professor had figured out some facts about marriage conflicts. Only 31% of conflict in marriage is solvable. Example: if you're newlyweds without kids, where do you go for Christmas, his or hers. Where to go to dinner, Mexican or Japanese? You can compromise that time, and do the opposite next time. They are usually one time decisions. The tough ones are the 69% of conflict which is not solvable. This often involves personality. Example: one person is always on time while the other spouse is always late. That does not change in most marriages. Another would be one person is a saver, while the other spends.

There's a cute LDS film with Gordon Jump from the 1960s. He talks about keys to a successful marriage with a group of coworkers and their spouses. All the other couples seem to bicker a lot, while Gordon Jump talks about what makes a wife happy.

Gordon Jump was my sister’s home teacher in Costa Mesa, California. Our YW/YM group once went to see his show live, WKRP in Cincinnati, before we even knew the show existed! It was fun, especially meeting Loni Anderson. My sister, a single divorced mom, told me that as a home teacher in the late 1990s, he and his wife were most charitable toward her and her family of four fatherless children. They were always helping her out, and my sister said they really seemed to enjoy it, like it wasn’t a task or duty for them. One Christmas season, they even brought gifts that her children really wanted, plus a Christmas tree! She didn’t tell me of any of this until he passed away.

Hey, it happened again in the late 1970s, when EVERYONE had the Farrah Fawcett style hair! The only ones who didn’t were the older ladies from the 60s who insisted on keeping their beehive style hair! The very last time I saw a woman wearing beehive style hair was as late as 2010. She was a very sweet old lady who was my visiting teacher for a while. I could tell she was the type who keeps her house immaculate, because she was always so nicely dressed, and her hair always was perfectly done! 😊

It's a hotdog... at the zoo... what the hell? I was raised in the Catholic church in Milwaukee. We were REQUIRED to have hotdogs (or, preferably, brats) at the zoo. And the State Fair. And the Milwaukee Symphony. And Summerfest (with lots of beer). And the Milwaukee Public Museum. Oh, yeah, you should probably smoke a lot as well. They won't let you have sex (until you're married) (to a couple people) but they even cut you off from the stuff that take's its place?

Don’t wig out; they’re only kids! Besides, the parents probably eat hotdogs when they’re out and about without the kids, once in a while! And don’t misunderstand: We adults CHOOSE to live the lifestyle that dedicated members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints do. No one compels us to do it!
