Hi everyone, long time no longer video so I decided to fix that!
Tbh, I was asking myself this question a lot lately, so this is mostly me theorizing about why do I feel the way I do while asking others about their experiences!
Feel free to share yours! Just be nice towards each other 💖 I hope you liked this video and definitely let me know what would you like to see next :)

Thank you so much 💖 🤗 That's the spirit! Me too, the only time I feel somehow embarrassed is when people in my real life question it 😅 but in the end it's my life and I won't be ashamed of something that brings me so much joy 😊

I'm Gen X and very much enjoy K-Pop. Music and art do not have age limits on them. Would someone question a person in an art museum or outdoor concert for being there based on their age? Everyone can enjoy the art, the music, the creativity they like. Great watercolors by the way.

Yes, 100%. If you transfer this "problematic" to any other settings than kpop fandoms, it just sounds ridiculous. Let's just enjoy! And thank you very much

I am 32 yo, i started listening to kpop when i was around 19 because of boa, 2ne1 and 4minute. So many groups debuted since then so my list of kpop groups that i like is longer now. I dont interact with the fandoms since usually they are quite young and also i just want to listen to the idols music, dance their choreos and watch the content they put on social media. Also i never had people around me that liked idol music (i am from spain and friends my age stoped enjoying pop music many years ago) so since i dont share this ¿hobby? with anyone nobody tells me "you are too old for kpop", i kind of live in my own bubble i guess. But i definetly feel like i am getting old for kpop sometimes and wonder if the idols would feel uncomfortable knowing my age if they met me in person... but since i dont go to those events and kpop brings me joy i never felt like stoping. Listening to kpop brings the teen in me, the one that daydreamed of becoming a singer xDDD. I also include to my spotify repertory other genres of music (i like rock & latin music and many others) but i am not emotionally invested with those artists like i do with some of the kpop groups. Anyways im rambling 😂 sorry for my poor english and have a great day 😄!!

i completely understand where you're coming from! I am 17 years old but I still detest the fandoms of kpop because of their toxic behaviour and possessiveness. But I still really enjoy the music and the content of the kpop groups regardless of the fandoms! Just remember you're never too old to listen to music ( after all kpop is truly just music! )!

I understand, realistically speaking without bumping into kpop fans around my age on the internet, I wouldn't interact with the fandom too. I'm from Czechia and I don't have people listening to kpop in my surroundings as well, but because of that, that's the reason usually why they don't get it and say "you're too old for boybands" 😂 I can't say for sure, but I don't see a reason why would somebody be uncomfortable with that, if you're there to just enjoy whatever your fav artists put out, it's a win win situation, you give them your watchtime/listens and they give you the content! One cannot live with the other in a way 😅 So don't worry about that and just do whatever makes you happy

YESSSS fellow adult stay here!! love this video. I was just explaining to someone that I never felt as confident as I did once I got into k-pop. I don't know, it's like seeing the sheer talent of these artists is really hopeful, and it makes you think, "why can't I feel cute as an adult? why can't I work really hard to pursue my passions?" I also feel like fangirling is such great gratitude practice. like you just appreciate things in life so much more. at least that's been my experience. thanks so much for your video!

That's a really good way to look at fangirling tbh! And I have to absolutely agree with you, since I got into kpop, I returned to many things that I used to love and even started this channel! When you see these groups being so driven and passionate about what they do (especially SKZ for me) it makes me inspired to push myself and chase my dreams ^^ Life isn't so dull since then 😊 Thank you sooo much for watching my video

First of all, your art is amazing, wow. That is some talent right there and I'm so glad skz got you back into making art, because it is stunning! I've been into kpop since 2005, back in school at that time k-pop was very unknown. I was known as the weirdo that listened to that 'strange Asian music'. And now that I'm 31, I'm somehow labeled as the 'weird old person' listening to k-pop in some online posts/by some people. It doesn't matter what you do, there will be people that will find a fault in anything. What I do find sad, I feel like the communities/fandoms I was once so accepted by, when people irl wouldn't accept me and my k-pop likes, now seem to spit you out just for being older than the majority of them. I don't remember fandoms of older generations being this ageist. Maybe I'm looking back through too rose colored glasses, but it all felt more easy-going, friendlier etc back then. I think social media has ruined a lot of the fun in interacting with others fans from around the world. Sometimes it feels like a competition, you're only a fan if you have x-amount of albums or you're more of a fan if you've stanned someone from pre-debut. Which is ridiculous in my opinion. Am I more of a k-pop fan than someone else just because I've been a fan since 2005 and they maybe got into k-pop in 2023? No, not at all. To get back on topic, it's wild to me that these younger fans seem to think that if you're 25, a switch in your brain will flip and you're suddenly cured of your love for k-pop. That's not how that works, and like you mentioned and what I always tell my friends, one of these days those people will turn 25+ and there will be groups debuting with members younger than them and it's not like they will suddenly stop loving k-pop. Imagine putting an age limit on the Beatles. Nowadays, I'm very happy in my bubble of found k-pop friends that accept me and my OLD age, i interact with the fandom when I feel like it and I'm not ashamed of my k-pop likes anymore. I don't go around telling people they can't like ACDC or Rihanna or a specific genre, so why should they be able to tell me that and make me feel bad about it? It's just dumb. Like what you like and let others like what they like. As long as it makes you happy then that's what matters because you have to live your life with yourself and not with the other people that have an opinion on it. Did this turn into a rant or what.. oops sorry~

@lucylikes the funny thing I used to be the youngest as I went out clubbing since I was 14 or to concerts since I was 8 and now I'm still the youngest at the concerts of my old favourite groups. But never I had to pay attention to that until I got into Kpop. Most people tell me: "it's ok of you're older" and without being rude, I want to answer: I didn't ask you to validate my presence in the fandom. But I never say that haha
@lucylikes
@lucylikes 27 күн бұрын
It's weird that this thing is very specific in kpop fandoms, as you said, I never paid much attention to my age when it came to other artists, or movies etc. Exactly, I know that most of them mean well, but even the fact that they think we need to be reasurred because of our age says a lot about how are older fans usually viewed 😅😅
