I have 2 glass mats, A3 (45x35cm) and square (32x32cm), they stay on on my table. REally love the A3 mat, plenty of room for everything. I also have an A4 self healing mat and a silicone mat, I get these out as and when needed xxx

Lou, I have a variation of most of these mats. The one that really has captured my attention lately is the mat with the rotating base.

I didn’t realize that CS has a glass mat, and that it has a great price point. My large Tim Holtz glass mat stays on my table top, which I do all my crafting upon. As you pointed out the two main negatives are the glare and heaviness, so if I’m taking a picture, I have these white disposable towels that I lay as a background. I have a silicone heat mat that I place on top of glass mat for messy wet media like pastes or acrylic paints, as it removes easily and the whole mat can be taken to the sink to wash off. And I just received your new magnetic mat and am excited to try that out for layered stencils, hope this will help with that. Like you, started out with self healing mats, but now use only for rotary cutting when sewing/quilting. Great review of options and the pros and cons!

Nice selection. I have a glass mat currently, but I'm waiting desperately for a large white magnetic one with both inches and centimetres on it (printed in different colours to help differentiate it) along each side, in the UK. I prefer white surfaces as I can see the colour I'm using properly.

Lou i have a question about the round rotating mat .... in your opinion, would this be suitable for quilting, for cutting smaller pieces? Is there a ridge all around the edge once the mat is in place, or is it flat? X
