Hey man. Just got into this industry about a month ago and I love it. I get to genuinely help people. Your videos are very underrated. I have gained so much knowledge from you. I love how your videos are humorous. Please do not stop. You are talented.

I'll agree that today's roof solar panels are very heavy and require numerous nail points for support. The glass panels, over the solar collectors is 1/4(?) inch thick; thus, heavy. I look forward to much lighter collectors, with a thin Gorilla Glass protective plate, a large support frame, and nails / screws at 10 foot spacing (from the weight savings). I would like to see vertical solar arrays ground-mounted. Guy wires would resist strong winds.

If you have ridge vents on your roof, should light be able to come through the vents and you can see light inside the attic?

Not through a ridge vent. Through a box vent, yes.

Some good advice here as usual but I'm afraid you've missed the mark on solar and the continuing bad news on the climate. You're out west so I'm sure you've noticed the increasing tendency towards periods of serious drought and then wildfires. Here in the southeast it's the problem of increasing tropical storm activity with increasingly warm Atlantic Ocean water temperatures. Same in the Carribbean and especially the Gulf of Mexico. These are long term patterns and the forces driving them, namely greenhouse gasses like methane and Co2, are at levels we have not seen in human history. This is clearly due to the burning of fossil fuels. Those fuels took millions of years to develop and, by most estimates. we've burned through at least half of the world's deposits in just over a hundred years- and our use is ACCELERATING. Your analysis takes into account only direct costs which is exactly how fossil fuel companies and the capitalist system as a whole would like us all to think. But what about the enormous indirect costs? The pollution that drilling, refining and burning these fuels creates? The inevitable oil spills, gas leaks, and damage to wildlife habitat? The despoiling of nature adding to the struggle wild creatures face to survive? What about the enormous coming costs of trying to mitigate the damage a warmer world will bring as a consequence of our short sighted actions and way of life. You should take a broader view of these issues, especially if you have kids. It's their world we're screwing up by not taking immediate action to change our ways.

I'm also old enough to recall 2 or 3 other cycles of similar weather patterns followed by much cooler, wetter periods, each which lasted between 2 and 20 years. I haven't seen any objective information that this kind of thing is caused by man. It's another scam.

@@homesteadroofing I'm right there with you. We went through the Freon and ozone hole hysteria that mandated manufacturers stop making R12 and R22 and switch to other refrigerants. Then, when the switch had barely taken effect, the ozone hole magically closed up by itself. But, we re still changing and banning new refrigerants every few years. The 2025 refrigerant contains iso-butane. Yes, as in butane lighters and torches which s flammable. Who thinks using flammable gas in home AC units is a good idea? In the 1980s, they were having fits over global COOLING and the coming new ice age. Wrong again. The National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) both have said that the strength and frequency of tropical storms fall within historic limits for naturally occurring swings. Now, I do agree the climate is getting warmer and man has something to do with it. But, as technology improves and the prices come down, people will move that way in a gradual manner of their own accord.

Unsubscribed. I was watching allot of the videos for info about my own roof, but I think I'll have to move on. You seem like a very nice man, so I say this with respect, but I don't need political opinions in every facet of my life.

How is it political to point out facts about solar panels and solar panel shingles along with accompanying costs, pay back periods, return on investment, and issues with warranty coverage on shingles, roofing materials, and labor/workmanship? I don't 100% agree with him, but he is not drastically wrong.
