In hindsight, I may redo this and make the heatshrink longer so that the TOP end is actually up inside the helmet and out of the weather. The length I used in this video, I cut from a liner length, so should be do-able🤞

A great idea, although I agree with Alex and Joe's suggestion regarding avoiding seepage at the end. Regarding the camera charging input, I use blu tack, it seals really well and makes it easy to remove the power lead. You can leave it over the charging port with just a slot to put the cable in and out, which can be molded around the USB jack for each use.

@@michaellilley6725 Hi Mike, happy new year bud. I've had that splitter on my helmet for a while, in rain as well. It's never played up but thought I'd do this to cover up the actual male/female join. I have taped it around the top now as well. I used blue tac on my gopro for years, as you say no problems. The only thing I found was it got bits of it into the holes in the lead and the camera itself at times.

I was just about to switch YT off when your vid popped up. The heat shrink stuff is very good indeed but may be worth adding a bit of insulating tape to the end facing up as water has a an uncanny knack of getting past the end. Don't ask me how I know 😂😂😂

Like a previous guy said, blutac works a treat as well.

@@Teuchteronabike I always used it before, but found it got bits of it up into the holes of the lead and camera. Probably the easiest solution though👍

good Idea ... only problem I can see is on a scorcher of a hot day those loose heat-shrink ends will close up

Ive had the door off for a while, never had ay issues in the rain except the time I was trying to charge while riding and in the wet. I melted the headphone jack adapter. I think you will need to really try and keep out the water if you want power all the time when riding or cut power when raining.

Nice job Nige and I do agree with Alex @blearyview2244 comment regarding water getting into the top of the heatshrink, maybe a small amount of silicone sealer would do it. Great to see how others get around problems and share there experiences for all. Cheers
