Areas can contain several rooms.. an area can be a whole company which has rooms like (conference room, kitchen, waiting room, etc) but it's all one area

I dont know why autodesk took away GIA as an area type. All the types included dont seem to take away the area of internal walls from area plans now, so its impossible to calculate the actual floor space

Use actual area plans if you want to do this - the technique shown here is not best practice. You can add new area schemes under: Architecture ribbon tab Room&Area tab > dropdown > Area and Volume Computations >Area Schemes tab This allows you to define multiple area plan types such as GBA, GFA, NLA etc. Note that areas work differently to rooms - you draw the boundary as opposed to walls bounding the area. Hope that helps!

@@aatifawan781 in the floor plan's view properties there should be a field called view range. If you click on the grey edit button, it will have a height for the cut level. If you do not want to raise the level this high in the entire floor plan, use a plan region, which can be found under the view tab, in the floor plan drop down.

Hello, I am a new Revit 2019 user (technically installed it about a year back but never used it). I am yet to solve the issue of families libraries and all that; I get the error "No structural columns (or any member) family is loaded in the project. Would you like to load one now?" and clicking yes lands you in an empty folder. I have tried downloading libraries online but they won't load even if placed in the default folders. Are you able to make a video on how to fix this issue? Thanks.

Guys In my company They wants me to integrate revit to their SQL server. In That they wants all area of buildings common areas of a city type project.. There we have almost 50 buildings. I need to get all area and room tags data of all buildings but it should be from single server. I dont know how to distinguish each area tags for each building

Kind of that. If one buildingbis there easily we can get tags. If multiole building and spaces are there how can we distinguish tags for eevry biilding

This isn't a Revit area plan... technically it's a GA plan with colour scheme.

@@jimroy8276 completely different view types. Area plans allow you to asaign areas to any sized shape or boundary, not just one room. Revit walls also don't allow for detailed area boundary positions - we don't usually measure all centre or all finish face. This workflow is ok for a student, but in the real world, most architects do not use floor plans to get accurate areas. Check out the area plan tool on the view tab and you'll see what i mean.
