Years ago I read "The Leopard" but had never seen the movie version. Recently my husband and I rented it and we were very impressed. Thank you for uploading this documentary about Visconti and giving us the background of this extraordinary artist.

Difficult times when there are wars. Very interesting the life of this filmmaker. War is never the solution to resolve problems but he lived those times.😇

thank you for your comment, unfortunately i set up this channel in the hope of sharing some of my documentaries from years ago. Due to the age of my computer (2007) it took a ridiculous amount of time just to upload this part and i dont really have the time to spend hours and hours waiting for it to upload. A shame i know as i was looking forward to sharing my stuff. Until such time when i get a more powerful compter this channel of mine will have to remain static, sorry for that!

+Cinescreen hi there - is there any possibility of the 2nd part being uploaded yet please? Would be fantastic to see it as it's not possible to find it anywhere. Hoping you got a new computer and able to do it...
@cinescreen67208 жыл бұрын
Hello there, it pains me to say this but yes i do have the 2nd part but still have my sloppy old computer which takes a painstaking amount of time just to upload one video, annoying really and frustrating too as i have so many documentaries on cinema that i wanted to share with everyone. I'll be frank, the main reason i can't get a new computer anytime soon is due to being on a benefit, i cureently have no job due to going through cancer TWICE! Not sure when i'll be able to get back to work as the illness has rather wrecked my body and general health, so the small amount of money i do receive is very limited. Thank you so much for your kind comments though, they are much appreciated! If your really interested in seeing them both you could email me at: ianhealey93@yahoo.co.uk, i could burn you a disc of them both for a small amount if that would be ok with you?

I was also looking for part 2, but what I could find out is that Arena is the name of a series of documentaries. The Life and Times of Count Luchino Visconti is simply documentary no. 2 in season 28, see IMDb. However, I do not give up, as IMDb does not give the length of the documentary and i do miss several interviewees mentioned at the beginning of the documentary.

@cinescreen67208 жыл бұрын
+ARaspberryBeretOn. No problem, as you must have read from the previous comments, i wish there was more i could do but sadly i can't, it is a great documentary isn't it! I have many more like this, i was recording onto vhs for years and even though today you don't quite get the same calibre of programmes on tv i still record the odd thing here and there when they turn up on tv. I very much doubt whether you'll find a complete copy anywhere on the net, if your really serious email me at: ianhealey93@yahoo.co.uk, perhaps i could sort something out for you? Thanks for your comment

Cinescreen I found your documentary upload since I was trying to get a bonus material for my Luchino Visconti collection. Today, you'll find the torrent websites very useful. You can get wonders of cinema from them. If you have a friend near where you live who's also a cinema lover and knows how to use these internet sources, you wont take long learning how to upload your material to the torrent services and how to download thousands of films. They work reasonably fast and you get to share a great number of films. That's a great tip for you I think. Thanks for your effort.
@cinescreen67208 жыл бұрын
+ARaspberryBeretOn. Hello again, yes i'm aware of the torrenting websites but i don't do any of that myself as i'm aware that you get malacious sorts hiding viruses in downloads just to be spiteful. This happened to someone i know, however i do have a friend who doesn't mind taking the risk and finds the latest releases for me film/documentary-wise, it would be a bit cheeky of me to then ask him to practically manage this youtube channel for me in uploading my videos. It's a good idea i grant you but i think i'd like to do it myself, i'll have to see how next year's funds go in seeing if i can scrape the money together for a faster computer. All the best.

Is from the book of Thomas Mann. The movie is totally sticking to the book. There’s a kind of gay love for the boy from the “ weird “ man, how you call it( the ignorance of the foreigners is so annoying) that Thomas Mann had non his life for an Italian guy working in the hotel ‘s elevator where he was on vacation with his wife in Venice.

what??? Visconti was Zeffirelli's teacher! Visconti was genius and he didn't have to copy someone.

From my opinion you're absolutely wrong in this matter because the aesthetics invented by the Luchino Visconti we can see in his Rocco e i suoi fratelli (1960) or in Il Gattopardo (1963). And Zeffirelli, no doubt, the master with high taste, but his Romeo and Juliet war released on in 1968.

We watch Elizabeth II going to a premiere of Death in Venice... What is this supposed to tell us about the movie or Visconti? That he was famous? Helmut Berger is presented as an "acting sensation" of the 60's when he had in fact next to zero cinematic existence outside of Visconti's movies. The succession of scenes is random. I could not go beyond 10 minutes of this.
