Hey Nike! I watched your videos in the past and I recently watched the new Mukluk video about his discussion about your discussion about him. I decided to watch your videos in more detail so I can get a better idea of what's going on. It seems that, although everyone can have an opinion, accusations have been made and offensive name calling has followed, which has definitely escalated into the gaming community. I'm still trying to find the actual source of all of this, but from all the videos i've seen from you and Mukluk it appears there is one origin. I understand that some people have a high allegiance to a product or ideal business model. I also understand that the video gaming industry is new and a lot of rules and regulations, that could be common sense practices, do not exist. I think its great that there are content creators that can shine the light on "poor taste" practices or even possible crimes that may exist and need investigation. I do see a problem of how things are discussed. I believed what we discuss and how we discuss it are equally important. Calling attention to something smelling like smoke and feeling heat coming from a room is one thing. Screaming "there's a fire" and labeling someone an arsonist is something else. Yes, something could be burning, there could be a flame, but that not the same as an uncontrolled fire, and, dude could simply be a waiter coming out the kitchen. Watching your videos that aren't about gameplay or game content seem like there's a lot of energy on how you think things should be and accusing people of crime doing, when you don't seem to take proper steps to ensure your handling sensitive matters with care. As much as I hear you talking about people doing things improper or unethical, you're actually doing things improperly and unethically in that moment. I get the impression that you authenticly care and aren't simply being malice, but I don't trust your knowledge of the subjuct or your understanding of the streaming business. Also, how you make accusations seem like defamations of character and grotesque assumptions. I hope this comment is helpful to you and that you build upon the skills of "ethical journalism", since that what seems to be your interest, along with awesome gaming. I'll advise that you stay out of the business of other people until you can hold your self accountable as you try to hold other people.

The difference a great community manager can make is night and day, first game that comes to mind is Warframe, I honestly don't think that game would be the same without Rebecca (at the time) and Megan and there team.

Apparently you didn't ever watch Warframe: The Corruption of Digital Extremes here on KZbin. Sucks to be a sucker.

Haven’t play this game in years but started right at the offshore karka event in 2012? Anyway Nike has been there as long as I can remember so whether he wants the job or not, he would make a fantastic community manager or at the very least a consulting gig. I’ve been through hundreds of games and added 2 children and this man is still farming champions. What a legend! ❤

@2:30 totally agree, the last few "weekly event" like fractal rush have been absolutely garbage. Fractal rush events used to be omega hype GOGOGOGO, now I'm not even touching them...

I think you did a fantastic job as acting CM. Great points Nike. My opinion no one asked for: The comms between Anet and the community have been so severely lacking, it's improved somewhat but there's so much left to be desired. I think Roy has carried the torch on that where he can where it comes to getting involved in discords and twitch chats but it would benefit from someone dedicated to it full time like you said. Others have mentioned Warframe and Digital Extremes who have done outstandingly with engaging their community over the years, they're the posterchild imo hehe uwu

Its a bad sign when Roy is the most forward facing dev. he shouldnt be the guy we see most, and i say that as someone who is friends with him

NGL, this is the first I heard about it, but yes, I WAS bummed you didn't get the position. Your points are all valid ones to have one put in place. I'm just wondering if Papa NCSoft has told them it's not an important enough position to staff.

Would you even take that job? It probably starts at like 40k a year.

I'm happy with my career, it would take a big payday and a long contract to get me to take that gig, along with a 100% WFH clause.

The only interactions I see are Roy's, Grouch's, and Maclaine's. It shouldn't be devs/producers/composers that interact the most with the community...
@okbuddykormir8 ай бұрын
It gets worse when you realize Roy and Grouch are ex-community members and Maclaine is a freelancer. We really don't have any communication with the "core" Anet. I miss the weekly dev streams pre-HoT.

All the players in my community and I believed you were the CM, despite some tweets being a bit 'aggressive' for a CM. But we believed it because we wanted to believe that Arenanet had finally hired a Community Manager who was doing their job and interacting with the community. I hope Arenanet finally wakes up after so many years of ignoring social media and not having anyone directly interacting with their community. And let's not even talk about the debacle that has been the partner system for years. Let's Prayge for the awakening of Arenanet.

Who want to be GW2 community manager that do not have any power and any changes that anet will listen to?
@perishVS8 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s essential for a community manager to have power or be able to make changes, depending on what you mean by changes. It’s obvious what positives a community manager could bring to any gaming company, who would want to do the job? I’m sure thousands would.

Its been my head cannon for years that nike and preston are the community management team. Anet care about it so little that preston stopped showing up to work years ago, but still gets paid, just in quenzos vouchers or whatever that restraunts called.

That's the problem with GW2 right now: you can't give strong opinions on the game You can't give a honest critique about gw2 , maybe 2 KZbinrs do and the community hate them and don't play attention to what they said ,even top GW2 content creators are not having fun with GW2 and many others have quit the game completely,but the problem is always you not the game GW2 community is giving the massage that GW2 is perfect as it is ,that's maybe the reason arenanet is doing nothing

NIke just want to salute your contribution while you served as Community Manager, thank you for your service you did a fantastic job. o7 Only thing I disagree with is this idea that Anet needs a CM. CM's don't have any power and their actual job is to just BS the community and peddle cope, which is useless waste of dev money. As if Anet is going to value reddit nerds OCD feedback. But aside from that, I beg you to continue in your role as Unofficial Official Community Manager.

@okbuddykormir8 ай бұрын
I don't know if it's hilarious or sad but there's literally 1 guy working on GW1 in his spare time and he interacts with the community more than all the GW2 devs combined. Hey here's an idea, you should self-appoint yourself as the GW1 community manager and go from there. Nobody's gonna debunk it or hire a replacement and I bet other creators would help gaslight people for fun. Then maybe in time you can leverage that into being GW2 community manager too. Fake it till you make it. I mean what's Anet gonna do, unpartner you? ecksdee

They need to fire half the people at Anet that keep ruining lore and think it's funny, look at what we got from HoT > PoF > EoD > SotO each expansion is consistently getting worse. I quit the game once from 2017 to 2021 and I'm feeling like quitting again, willing to bet SotO finale will be a disappointment and later this year they'll just double down on the BS as is common practice right now. There's better things to do out there.
