Mrs. Franklin was born to sing, it was undoubtedly what the Lord had planned for her life, and I am grateful I had the opportunity to listen to her sing and play, it is a generational thing. Her interpretations of a lyrics and music were stellar, unique and inspiring. In my house, see is and will be missed until the day I am only a memory to the one's I love. Thank you Queen of a multitude of genres in music, you are appreciated and missed.

Ms Franklin was an icon when I was in Vietnam in 1968-69, Her songs lifted the brother's spirits, we were in a war that had no rhyme nor reason. They were trying to do genocide on us Black men because all of the turbulence across the nation in the 60s when we were being drafted in a higher ratio. It was great to hear Ms Franklin's voice on our transistor radios. Sure miss her.

Her techniques in her passing chords are some of the best. I can tell her comfort/confident zone is playing a piano onstage, like MJ Dancing on stage.
@1960songwriter10 ай бұрын
That was a great analysis and u r exactly right she knew all the intricacies of the art of how to navigate the chords and what chord would b related more to the chord that she's moving from unto the next chord moving forward to while still not disturbing the melody. Aretha most definitely knew formulas that would assist her n her playing skills. While her vocals unfortunately didn't stand the test of time as well as her piano playing did. From yrs of smoking. Although aretha had stopped smoking n 1992 26yrs b4 her death. Unfortunately her yrs of smoking since her early teen yrs had took habit on her beautiful voice along inconjuction with medications she was on after being diagnosed with pancretic cancer. As u.can.hear whenever aretha goes up n notes.with.her voice. Her voice thins out and resigns n2 a falsetto. unlike n her hey day when she could go up there n her full nature voice. Listen to bridge over trouble water and u will hear what i mean how when her range could go higher and she still b singing n her nature. Or go listen to her sing ain't no way from back n the days and how she go up n full nature range 2the bridge of that song. N her later yrs her vocals couldn't nolonger accomodate that song n.the same.matter It had done b4 1992. Aretha had to resign to her falsetto cause she could nolonger sing that high n her natural range. Patti Labelle is having the same vocal issue now as well. Them vocal folds starts to deteriorate as one get older. It's a normal progression. But I love myself some aretha. It will always b aretha 4me. I digress.

You would be surprised how many people don't love Aretha. But they are the ones with the problem. I am a fan of LadySoul and would get upset and sometimes angry with others who don't share my love for her music. With age I've learned to let people have their own opinions. Forever the Queen.

I wonder how much her weight gain contributed to her cancer? I think I read somewhere that she was diabetic. That weight gain is no joke. She belongs in the rare singer category, like Sinatra, you HAVE TO LISTEN. You don't hear glasses clinking or people talking. It's still and quiet when she sings.
