This song kept me during the darkest times of the last 4 years - COVID, Racial Injustice and horrible Politics. I would turn this on and just play it over and over whenever it got to be way too much. This song reminded me to stay hopeful - faithful. My family played it often on Sunday morning when I was a child - I always loved it. And when I needed it most in my adult life, it was there for me - restored me. Music is truly the voice of the divine ❤️. My Lord if we could just come together Wholy Holy 🙏🏽.

I bought the album when it was released in 1972. I had just found out that I was on academic probation after my freshman year at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. No one really knew what I was going through emotionally and Spiritually at that time but God. This album set my soul straight. I played it until the vinyl started skipping. This song here was liberating. Marvin did it first in that same period yet Aretha’s spin on it took it into the stratosphere. To be Wholy Holy is a different level. I surrender all.

I was 19 years old the summer of 1972. I bought this album for my mother to listen to. It was a double set. Meaning it was comprised of two albums. Or LPs, Long Playing records. I used to stop by my mother's house to drop my daughter off before I went to work. Also came by so that I could play Wholly Holy n listen to it. Sort of like prepared me for work n set my day. N everything Marvin wrote n Holy, Holy is true. In the Bible, The Lord Jesus Christ says, "Be ye holy as I am holy. Meaning be separate n st apart from this world. Marvin Gaye had a traumatic life n so did Aretha Franklin. When a person has a lot of trauma n their lives it because they are chosen by God Almighty n they are gifted with great talents, gift's n abilities from God. Which has a great anointing on them. The enemy does not want those gifts. Which are bestowed unpin his creation, man n woman. So despite trauma n tragedy Marvin n Aretha SANG N SANG!!! To be Chosen By God inputs a heavy responsibility on the one who is Chosen. Both of them loved God. I will end by saying, "Many are the afflictions of the RIGHTEOUS. But the Lord, He delivereth them from them ALL!! NOT SOME. BUT ALL AMEN N AMEN.
