Once you have overwintered your first bee colonies, your bees will have a significant advantage the following spring. Watch them build up their population in advance of the honey-producing season. Keep an eye out for signs of swarming, and keep your bees healthy and productive.

27:32 Swarm story... A few years ago I had a swarm, a bit over 20 feet up on a big oak branch that was partially extending over my neighbor's yard. I did have a bamboo pole, about 18 feet long, with a bucket at the end that I kept around for dislodging "high" swarms. Unfortunately I just couldn't get the swarm to fall into it... mainly because the branch was so thick, I couldn't move it by bumping the bucket into it. By pure dumb luck, I DID manage to get the queen and a few bees to fall down to the ground. I put her in a queen cage in an partially open box with drawn-out frames at the base of the tree. About an hour later, the whole swarm had descended into the box... all without my neighbor noticing!
