Argentina no era favorito, a pesar que ellos lo crean. Clasifico en repechaje, tuvo derrotas en los partidos preparatorios al mundial. Solo le gano a Grecia bien en el primer partido y sufrio mucho para ganarle a Nigeria que se fallo demasiados goles. Este partido fue solo un preambulo para que Argentina vuelva a su realidad (en los 90's) frente a Rumania

A Maradona-dependent Argentina without their orchestrator was just terrible. So much talent in its lines yet so little chemistry. It seemed to me that they had lost their play style where even with regular level player, they'd manage to form solid teams that could at least defend well with all pitch pressure. These guys just ran around cluelessly and threw very long passes that would be easily intercepted by their rivals. Also, everyone seemed hell-bent on scoring from outside the box, no one wanted to take the ball and enter the area, as if it was a hot potato or something. Not even Caniggia that was well know for his speedy strides with the ball.

That was a down time for Argentina, did not even make it to the quarter final that time. Maradona was out because of the testing. They I think lost to Romania and got locked out. So other than this group stage match I think they must have at least won one match, otherwise there would be no game with Romania.

La suspension disciplinaria de Maradona fue mala excusa para perder los animos y las ganas de triunfar. Mira la historia de los mundiales y lee sobre la mundial del 1962 en Chile. Brasil perdio a Pele (el mejor jugador del mundo en ese entonces) despues del segundo partido de la mundial (igual como Argentina perdio a Maradona). Pele no jugo mas por una terrible lesion en su ingla derecha. Pero Brasil decidio jugar por la victoria y lo consiguieron detras de las hazañas de Garrincha y Vava. Despues del empate 0-0 contra checoslovakia, Brasil utilizo su ritmo, estilo y avidez para ganar todos los siguientes partidos y levantar la copa del mundo! Argentina en el 94 pudo hazer lo mismo porque disponian de grandes jugadores: Caniggia, Batistuta, Simeone, y Ruggeri. Pero, desafortunadamente, se rindieron tras la perdida de Maradona y fueron eliminados en los octavos de final. Perder el mejor jugador del equipo no es excusa ni razon para no ganar un mundial!!

It’s almost as if Argentina was vulnerable to counter-attacks and set pieces. And Bulgaria took advantage of that, while playing stout defense. Also, Bulgaria played with 10 men for 25 minutes and still scored an additional goal.
