The Graciar Perito Moreno in Patagonia, Argentina is one of Argentina's greatest natural wonders. In the right time of the year big blocks of ice break off the glacier and drop into the canal. The colors and shapes of the ice remind of a piece of art of Gaudi.
During the summer a tunnel is being formed below the glacier through which the channel flows. The highlight of the year is the collapse of the tunnel around mid March. The recordings in the video clip were made one day before the 2016 collapse when big chunks of ice were falling off already.
We visited the Perito Moreno during our overland trip from the Netherlands to South Africa and from there on to South America.
Background music is Tan Ta Ra Cries Mars, royalty free music from Jon Sayles (www.jsayles.com....

A very misleading title. I doubt there is a very real Danger of the whole glacier collapse just yet. Even if extinction rebellion would like you to believe otherwise

The Perito Moreno Glacier is a rare growing ice form. Nearly all of the glaciers around the world are retreating, or have disappeared entirely, due to global warming. ... As the Perito Moreno Glacier grows, its tip cuts off part of Lake Argentino. As a result, the glacier creates a dam and pressure builds in the lake.

This glaciar -as I know- is the only growing glaciar on earth still yet, because we left behind the glaciar era, and it brokes every 4 to 10 years, not every year, and when that happens the two lakes join together becoming one big lake ( The argentine lake) Thank for the video it remainds me very old times there.

If all glaciers were to completely melt, in summer many rivers would dry out, fresh water would be much harder to get and crops would grow much harder, people would starve. Its impossible that glaciers located under 3000 meters would become ice free in the next centuries if global warming continues to rise as the last 20 years. So there is no worries needed

Approximately every two years ice from the glacier obstructs a channel. Water grows more than one side. In summer, the water pressure causes the ice to break. The glacier persists and grows normally. It seems that heating does not affect it. regards
