@@Ana61234 he recurrido algunas provincias argentinas, viví en la frontera, trabajé con y para argentinos un montón de veces, y mi impresión en todos estos años es que vos tenés más profundidad sobre temas sensibles de la sociedad. Le da fiaca a mucha gente de Brasil si intentás hablar de arte o algunos otros temas culturales, política, ideologías etc. Algunos serán re agresivos pero sin argumentos y van a hacer bardo, y a otros no existen ganas de buscar información y construir una opinión, solo les gusta hablar de temas más superficiales y seguir la vida sin pensar mucho. Obvio que existen personas así en Argentina o dondequiera, pero en Brasil diría que son mucho más comunes que ahí. Y viste que no estoy hablando sobre las opiniones que comparto, pero las que me molestan también. Vos podés hablar un montón de pelotudeces las cuales me aborrezco 100% y aún tener profundidad argumentativa. A mi siempre me pareció que, como sociedad, la argentina se envuelve muchísimo más en estos temas que la brasilera. Not thar diverse IMO, many Brazilian with Lebanese ancestry normally just feel closeness to Lebanon to the point of knowing an "Kibbeh Nayyeh" , or "kibe cru" recipe from an old relative called Salim that emigrated more than 100 years ago. Most also don't have any interest in visiting and knowing more about the Middle East. With the Japanese-Brazilian , most feel totally detached from the moderno Japanese society, and feel always more Brazilian, even when they live there Brazil is not multicultural, It's more a melting-pot society.

Of the 3 million Brazilians who claim to speak German, most of them speak it very poorly. But it's very hip to claim any German ancestry in Brazil. The second biggest language, where they can actually speak the language properly is for sure Japanese. The Japanese community is huge in Brazil. And because the Japanese emigrants arrived fairly recently, they still speak a lot of Japanese in daily life. The German Brazilians on the other hand mostly speak very little German. I have been to cities like Blumenau and Joinville, where they all love to say that are Germans. But I barely met a person in any of these places who could actually hold a conversation in German. But they loved to claim that thye are German 🙂.

I find it so fascinating how Italy and Germany share so many historical parallels, yet are almost polar opposite of each other in a cultural sense. Italy is the motherland of Latin culture, language, and identity, plus Catholicism. Germany (well Northern Germany + Scandinavia) is the fatherland of Germanic culture, language, and identity, plus Protestantism. Italian culture is stereotyped for being loud, physically expressive, passionate, family oriented, and enjoying the little pleasures of life in the present moment despite the current economy. German culture is stereotyped for being reserved, pragmatic, rational, orderly, and punctual, making it a more career oriented culture. As the stereotype goes, Italians live to eat, while Germans eat to live (they think more functionally). I guess this is why Germany is viewed as a country of engineers and scientists, where the personalities and lifestyles can appear more boring, drab, and miserable (like their depressing Northern European skies), while Italy is viewed as a country of artists (including con-artists) and fashion designers, where the lifestyle is romanticized for being more romantic, colorful, and jovial (like the Mediterranean sun). Anyway, Germans seem to live life more calculatedly, constantly on a schedule and fighting the temptations of the present to preserve their future (they think more macroscopically for the "greater good," such as the environment and society), while Italians don't care much about political correctness, but more about individual satisfaction, hence, they tend to be more spontaneous and less efficient at using their time, and think more microscopically (less collectivist, and more individualist, except when it comes to friends and family). Germans seem to enjoy life in bell curve, where in summertime, when they book their flight to Mallorca, they release all their repressed joy and energy in large bursts of un-German disorder and freedom. Italians, on the other hand, seem to enjoy life on a horizontal line, as every day, there must be something to enjoy, though every once in a while, they take a dip into a depression after being reminded of their economic situation. You can see this pattern also in their drinking culture, where Germans drink large quantities of beer to get drunk with their buddies, whether to release stress from work or gain the balls to talk to strangers, where Italians drink wine for the enjoyment and taste, and company and conversations with friends and family, reminiscing the good old days. I find Germans to be less nationalistic, more objective, politically correct, thorough, and detailed oriented, while Italians more nationalistic, emotional, and subjective. Italians would tell you they have the best food, fashion, history, and most beautiful country in Europe (basically subjects that are more qualitative in description), while Germans would only tell you they have the best if they can back it up with quantitative description (statistics, performance reviews, such as their vehicle industry, football teams, etc.) When it comes to history, both Italy and Germany joined the colonial race much later than other Western European countries, because they were not unified nations until the 1800s, and geographically they had poor access to the Atlantic Ocean, as Italy was confined in the Mediterranean, and Germany was stuck in the North and Baltic Sea, where other Western Colonial powers could easily cut them access to the Atlantic waters. They missed out on the Americas, but got the leftover colonies in Africa, which were all handed to the British and French after the World Wars, in which they both sided for and against each other. Interestingly enough, although they didn't get any colonies in the Americas, they migrated there in large numbers, to the point that German descendants make the largest diaspora in the US (if you discount British as an ancestry), and Italians descendants make up the largest diaspora in Argentina. Argentina, Brazil, and US are the top 3 countries with both the most Italian and German ancestry, with Germans descendants being more concentrated in North America, and Italian descendants being more concentrated in South America.

Regarding the cultural behavior parts, I think you were quite on point. Brazilians tend to be more chill, happy, and always good vibes and fun, while Argentineans tend to be more intense and passionate when discussing certain intellectual subjects (politics, economy, philosophy, psychology, football), but also coming off slightly more reserved than Brazilians, who love to dance and socialize with anyone. It's like comparing warm vs hot, or yellow vs red. Both are still on the warm spectrum, but Argentines have a slight danger factor to them, as if "don't get too touchy with me now, because I bite" type of way. Brazilians tend to have more pleasantries and hate to say no (I find this true for a lot of tropical Latin American nations), while Argentines tend to be more direct, and don't mind coming off as ass*oles. Maybe the more temperate weather allows us to be a bit more cold and distant.

Overall you are to the point. On violence, I think you are using racism. Brazil is more violent than most countries on paper, because it is the only poor democracy on earth that with a free press and the economical power to count crimes as the more developed countries do. In Buenos Aires, even though you believe their whiteness grants you safety... poverty there is at least twice as big as any Brazilian city, and their police power per capta is at least 5 times smaller than any major Brazilian city... but you felt safer in Buenos Aires???... amazes me to see people even from African countries afraid of violence in Brasil... Dictatorships afraid of Brasil... we have a huge problem with poverty, and we are not ashamed of allowing our blacks to tell their story... would love to see that kind of voice given to the blacks living on the outskirts of Paris. If we don't get this kind of data even from within Europe, how are we going to get that kind of numbers from Argentine, or Nigeria, or Russia... in Brazil, we don't play with those numbers, because we need them to make it less terrible than yesterday... so, if you die in Brasil, a legist will have to atest that it is either natural causes(with a explanation), or as violent death(with or without an explanation)... no third column for unknown... no political interference... no trying to make the numbers look good. Very different of most countries on earth... even Eastern Europe doesn't produce numbers as reliable as Brazil when we are talking about violence... I doubt that a Brazilian women will feel safe in Poland... and the violence against women in Brasil is a horrible problem. It is laughable to hear Iranians, and Turks, and not so long ago Ukranians afraid of Brazilian violence... and those are not by far close to the worse places on earth.

You forgot to say Argentina does better meat. Asado > Churrasco. Also Argentineans don't use ketchup on their pizza, and are very serious about their bidets. Brazilians are still very serious about hygiene, though. They shower multiple times a day and brush their teeth after a meal.

Brazil might stand high in murder rankings, but they are really concentrated in drug-realated situations (gang wars and etc). Around 90%. I'd be more worried about getting robbed. Gun-point robbery is also not as common as you'd think, although we see those on the news every day. The most likely scenario is that you'll be exposing your phone too obviously and someone will snatch it out of your hands. Never happened to me, never had any problems in fact (But I was robbed in Paris, go figure), but it is the situation that you'll most likely experience when it comes to violence if it gets to that point. Just be aware of your surroundings and where you are and you'll probably be fine.
