Blessings to you for uploading this video!!! I've been looking for this recording for over 20 years after I first watched it in 1995. This event was the 2nd Confederations cup initially conceived of by Saudi Arabia and called the King Fahd Cup. Continental champions assembled for a tournament and included the likes of Denmark, Argentina, Mexico, Nigeria, Japan, etc. Nigeria had played Argentina a year earlier for the first time in the 1994 World Cup and narrowly lost 2-1 in a match where Maradona played on drugs and got suspended after. So this rematch was exciting. This Nigeria team was its golden generation but without its key striker Yekini and a few others. Argentina seemed just a bit depleted here as well, without Claudio Cannigia and Diego Simeone. Part of this Nigeria team won AFCON bronze in 1992, won AFCON gold in 1994, was ranked 5th by FIFA in the World in 1994, topped its group in the 1994 World Cup and took Italy to extra time in the second round, won gold in the 1996 Olympics, beat Spain in the 1998 World Cup, and won silver in AFCON in 2000. It was good to see Efan Ekoku (premier league striker and English-born football commentator) play here for his parents' homeland, Nigeria. Football has changed a lot since then obviously. I'll be sitting down to rewatch and enjoy this in full! Thank you!

Different breed of Nigeria football players. When they were on the field you just knew they could beat anybody. Even the way they walked and their swagger was different. Their confidence was unmatched. Now we have boys that are trying

Exactly bro as Saudi I witnessed Nigeria 1994 to 1996 ( on 1994 they should be in final vs Brazil , but 1996 Olympic gave Nigeria thier truly place as champion ) I could see how player Nigeria fitness and body strong with speed that was just super team after that I got schocked of how players become that weak body ( skills is not all time solution )

I just realised this was EuroSport! Who remembers the "world cup legends" series that they you used to show? Brilliant! I'm 38 years of age as I type this and this brings back memories and goosebumps! P.s. kudos to everyone commenting, especially on the Nigerian squad of that time. We will not see a talent of players like this for a long time!

The then Nigerian players were different from the now Nigerian players . They players started playing in Africa before they move to Europe .That is why you can see they are more skillful.Today most of players being selected come from European Academies .In Europe they focus more on discipline .

You are relying too much on players who come from European Academies .Some players who are now being selected have no talents at all .They are in the national team because they play in EPL , la liga , Serie A or Bundesliga .

Sunday Oliseh or Mutiu Adepoju more so than Garba Lawal, if they played in the same era. Not necessarily chosen in terms of positions played. Also, as the commentator said, Rufai was the unpredictable piece of the puzzle.
