I started teaching myself to play the piano after it dawned on me that my mother, who was a wonderful pianist, was going to be gone soon. I couldn’t stand the idea that there would be no live music in the house or that our piano would dwindle into a decorative piece of furniture if no one used it. I did not inherit my mother’s talent and I would never call myself a true pianist even after over 20 some years of working at it. Only recently do I feel that I am actually making something that sounds like music but I will never be a true musician. I enjoy it and play only for myself. However, my labors have given me a little more insight into what I am hearing from others. I am in awe of the true masters of the instrument like Ms. Argerich.

😮 World-class pianists have marveled at Martha's technique; one stated that she's >a force of nature.< AND she does justice to the music, NOT merely at times plays fast. While, famous masters of the keyboard, eg., Emil Gilels and Vladimir Horowitz have played fast sometimes >while sacrificing the music< by clouded articulation and phrasing. (There's a specific recording of Gilels playing Chopin's Ballade No.1 faster than I've heard anyone else play it… yet >disregarding the subtleties of the music.< Argerich has never done that to Chopin… and neither to any other composer that I'm aware of.) Here, she's going full throttle in a supremely flashy Liszt showpiece! BRAVA👏👏

Thinking about learning this piece but man octaves are just not as fun as other techniques. He was beyond the level of concert pianist by a large margin, he was able to read and improvise concert level pieces without playing them before and read entire symphonies and played it on the piano. You should look it up it’s crazy stuff.
@thomosramm7336
@thomosramm7336 Жыл бұрын
@@johntest8092 sources on that kinda thing are fairly obscure though-either way, he may very well have had the most theatrical technique in history, but there was a guy who heard him play when Liszt was in his older years and died recently. He was asked about how today’s pianists compared, and basically said that Liszt would’ve been extremely impressed and that today’s pianists are a bit cleaner than he was. But hey, that’s one person hearing him play a couple times in OLDER age. Who knows🤷‍♂️
