See this is what I've needed!!! I have a scene where I need to fly through the clouds, so flying through those flat cards wasn't going to cut it. Thanks!

Glad you liked it. These Volumes are perfect to fly through!

Really grateful for tutorial. Would appreciate a little more info on the nodes. Why you have chosen them, what they do etc. I know it's all online but that means dipping in and out of the tutorial. About to invest in your cloud pack.

Cheers. Will keep that in mind for the next video. It's a good time to get the cloud Forge, I'm about to launch 1.4.3 this month that brings loads of features on.

Thanks for the amazing Tutorial! I have a quick question. How did you call the "VDB Texture" inside the blueprint. Thanks in advance!
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox9 ай бұрын
You can basically just set up a Material Sampler for a Dynamic Instanced Material where the VDB is the input. In the Cloudforge Project offered on the UE marketplace this is showcased and used.

can this cloud cast shadow to ground or receive shadow from other object?
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox8 ай бұрын
Hi They can receive shadows but it's quite limited at the moment. They can only cast shadow in pathtracer mode but soon will be able to in the normal rendering method as that is being added by epic.

Amazing tutorial, thank you for showing us. One question, when I turn on path tracer, the clouds disappear, any work around this? Thank you.
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox9 ай бұрын
Hi Thank you for watching and yes, you need to use a console command: r.PathTracing.HeterogenousVolumes 1

This video helped so much thank you! I was wonderthing though. Is there a way to make the colour of the cloud static and not reactive to the environment? I am working with a night time scene and wish to make the clouds dark grey thanks to the moon light but the moon's light isn't strong enough to make it any colour other than black witht he reactive environment lighting. Any help would be appreciated 🙏
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox7 ай бұрын
I'll have a think but not having indirect light turned on gives you a black cloud at night?
@ShockWithoutFear7 ай бұрын
@@ArghanionsPuzzlebox yh even without having it on it stays black but I'll keep experimenting, thanks for replying so quickly 🙏

You could try adding a local rectangular light on the vicinity to basically add a soft box
@parallax_cgi Жыл бұрын
When I entered that console command it didn't get white and nothing happened. Idk what to do!
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
You need to ensure the entire lighting setup is done. Directional light, sky atmosphere, sky light, exponential height fog.

Can the shape of the clouds be changed
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox11 ай бұрын
Hi. No, but you can mask certain areas

It's a little confusing to figure out you need paid stuff and what exactly you need to make the final product.
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Жыл бұрын
You need a software to generate the vdb files, yes. This tutorial shows exactly how to set up a good shader for these clouds to look nice in Unreal.

can u teach us how to make them glow in thunder storm i dont want them all to glow in same time
@ArghanionsPuzzlebox11 ай бұрын
I am considering a tutorial for this in the near future and adding it as feature of the Product itself. The baseline concept for doing this would be to have a light source that is able to have infrequent (random) intensity values and a particle lighting effect to spawn at the same time.

Can you show how to create a VDB texture like these?

I'll have a look at doing one in embergen and one in houdini

@@ArghanionsPuzzlebox Thank you, I am especially interested in making 3D anime clouds. Would be forever thankful if you show us how to create a VDB texture for some 🙏

im having a problem where the VDB doesnt seem centered in the volume and when rotating or scaling the volume, it jitters as if the uvs were on a random seed every frame or something...
@isaackershnerART11 ай бұрын
ok so if i scale the heterogeneous actor up, i can see it happening more. it appears the uvs move in the direction i rotate and scale the actor. by default, any VDB texture i choose, is not centered properly in the volume. i am now using the built in VDB material in engine content now.
@isaackershnerART11 ай бұрын
upon further efforts. it seems to be some sort of bug. It happens sometimes and other times it doesnt.

Make sure there aren't any wrong connections made in the material for the object.

21:30 You can convert the Mask colour input to a parameter (or replace it by holding V & clicking) Then name it Mask Control & manually change R to X, G to Y, B to Z e.t.c. in the same node, By using -1 instead of 1 in the material instance it should invert the mask to the top. I haven't tried it but that's usually how I do it in other materials.

It does work with Ray tracing as well. To be honest I've never tried without lumen or Ray tracing but no reason why it wouldn't work.
