This game is HER Nancy Drew gold. The characters look kinda bad, but the scenery of this game and the graphics are great. They managed to make a cohesive, spooky, entertaining, and challenging game that takes place in only one location. Take notes 📝, HER in 2021.

This game was super scary as a kid lol, and I think it's still a lot scarier than many other games. Because everywhere looks normal you can't really expect where scares will be, and moving statically to each area also makes the scares pop up quickly

Haha, I got it when I was like 6 and I kept getting stuck. I revisited it in my teens and recruited my cousins to help out...it’s kind of comforting to know the Hanzi safe puzzle is infamous even among seasoned players.

Same! I was 8 when this came out, it was my first ND game, the music and crying was creeping me out, and when I heard the ominous "I see you..." I noped right out of there. I was so scared that I didn't finish this or play another game for years. I only gathered the courage to revisit it after watching one of my sisters play some of the games, and realizing that they weren't quite as scary as I thought. I think I got back into them sometime during high school with Shadow Ranch, but Phantom of Venice is my favorite.

The thing I miss about these older ND games is the things you can click on that aren’t necessarily interactive or a clue, they just add atmosphere. Like clicking around in Abby’s room to look at her things. Or clicking around the prop room or matties apartment in stay tuned for danger. It just brings their characters to life. You get a sense of their personality. I miss that. Now everything you click on is a puzzle or clue... which is fine, I just miss the little details.

I never did the phone conversations with Hannah playing the game. Now I suddenly know why you can never tattle to Rose about anything you find out about Abby and Louis. Hannah asks you not to. Good to know.

So when you call friends like George and Bess and Hannah or Ned in other games, the letters on the phone correlate with words - Bess 1-523-555-4357 (last four digits spell help) George 1-523-555-4468 (last 4 spell hint) and Hannah in this game last 4 spell Drew and Neds in other games spell clue.
