If you pull out the "locator button" on the aftermarket bearing with pliers you can use the remaining hole as a grease port and put the cheaper bearing on the right way - the collar inward. That's what I did on my 2006 Argo Avenger. 👍

That is brilliant, I’ll have to try that. How did you get the locator button out?
@DonnDIY11 ай бұрын
@@RaisedinAlaska I used the vise grip pliers and started to wiggle the button first, then pulled it out while still wiggling. The button is made of pretty soft material and comes out fairly easily.

Two great channels right here! How are those aftermarket bearings holding up?
@RaisedinAlaska9 ай бұрын
@@keithrenaud3380 I did not have any problems last season. That said, I will be going through my Argo in about a month: once the ice goes out of the rivers or they are not safe for snow machine travel.

You could easily add an inner grease zirc... we add zircs on shafts of machines all the time. It takes a few minutes to drill/tap & the zircs are a couple of bucks.

I thought about drilling the outer race, but I was worried about getting metal shavings inside the bearing. What would be your recommendation?
@davidbrewer7937 Жыл бұрын
@@RaisedinAlaska you probably would not be able to drill it... that steel is very hard. I would not do it...

I found some on ebay that are Stainless Steel UC207-20 1-1/4" bearings. Have you tried them before and Could you do a video on it to see if they last longer? If so, how much longer vs standard/after market?

I’ll look and see what I ordered and see if I can find those.

@KyronWasylenchuk-v9w I wouldn’t say that they’re garbage, and if it were me, I would use them.

I’m going to pull that pin and try putting it in the right way . I’m going to use a grease needle and try snd get some marine grease into it before I install and hope for the best . Thank you so much for replying to me

@@KyronWasylenchuk-v9w that sounds like a great idea, best of luck.

Flange on the outside? Not a problem, get hold of a bicycle tire tube. Cut 1/2" rubber band, insert over wheel shaft will final install. Brush silicone grease over set screws and cover the flange with rubber band. You can even snug everything with extra tie wrap. You'll never get water in there.

Cool idea. I’m going to try that.

Hi..from Canada,,,,really like your argo content,,,i have a avenger myself.with 20in rubber tracks...i think that its not really a big problem to align the hole with the zerk port,,,,the grease will find its way in the bearing with the pressure applied by the grease gun.. (i use after market bearing with a groove all around top of bearing that join the hole ) .also,,,they are many aftermarket bearings that are really, good,,,try to find some that are made in japan.with groove...not china,,,,...cheers !!

a poor machinist should be able to re-machine the grease port to align with both side ports.
