I'm a young Iranian boy from 2020. I saw this perfect movie a week a go. I decided to comment to say that Iranian love the world. What has done in 1979 & even Iran hostage crisis, were done by our grandfathers & grandmothers. New generations don't know anything about war. If I have been writing English wrong, sorry; Actually, I can't speak & write English & other languages like a native. Love & Respect from a young Iranian boy... from Tehran, Iran.

With that said, I would not go so far as to call it American exceptionalism, as the CIA was involved a great deal, and though their contribution was exaggerated, their heroism is not. The movie should be criticized for not acknowledging the Canadian heroes, but it should not be criticized for acknowledging American ones.

I'm really surprised with the fact that The trailer had the OG Dream On song i mean the point at which it starts playing should've made me serious and excited about the movie but instead brought a smile on my face ...... Anyways time changes things.

I loved this movie in 2012. this is one of the last Oscar movies I watched, liked, and reminded fondly in my memory. I watched it many times. however, in July 2022 I see things slightly differently, little things I didn't pay attention in the movie lingered in my mind re-watching last night....however, a a good and enjoyable movie which deserves an Oscar.

After seeing this, I can only guarantee one thing and Hope to God for another. I can guarantee that this movie will be nominated for Best Picture during the Oscars, and the one I Hope happens is that Ben Affleck gets nominated for Best Director. He directed a great fucking movie. This movie was by far the best I've seen so far this year. It was so good. I'm gonna see it again probably this week. Can't give this movie enough praise.

I remember this awful takeover/hostage crisis. The hatred all felt. I did not feel that hatred here. Affleck did not need to focus on it. He understood their hatred, and rather than hating back, he used his insight on how these people think to make his mission a win. He made his piers understand it, the 6 embassy members. Same way FBI profilers work and give that insight to help catch them. Hating them won't matter, understanding how they think does matter.

sajeer koormath Hostage crisis was part of CIA's plan after Islamic revolution to exchange the Shah with hostages and let him be killed by hand of his own peoples and of course freezing billions of dollars of Iran in the American and world wide banks.. seizing the Pan American airline, many NY towers, Banks in the U.S and many other investment in the U.S by Iran..

Yet another ' Americanized ' movie which is not only factually wrong, but gives the Americans undue great credit for what actually happened, much like ' The Great Escape ' movie. Were it not for the courage and work of the Canadians, these Americans would never have escaped. In addition, the C.I.A. screwed up the visa dates. The Canadians caught the errors, and fixed them.

While that's true, this was based off of the actual save itself, and not what was behind it. So, technically, the movie is factually correct as they got the story from both the CIA and Tony Mendez, just to make sure the facts were correct. We don't deserve as much credit as the Canadians do, but we do deserve credit for the save itself

I fell in love with Ben Afflecks character in this film. Although I realise there were other characters who perhaps did not get the credit they deserved. War and politics are so filthy. The US is a wolf in sheeps clothing in my opinion. However, brave people such as these have my deep respect and gratitude.
