I tried one of these today - beautiful sound and lots of 'personality'. I had never heard of 'parlour' guitars until now. For the price, it's a beauty. Pity I cannot justify buying one!

The Aria ASA 18H played nicely by Tom in this demo does not appear to use standard tuning making the guitar sound a little more bassy than it actually would be.

This guitar sounds like it nails the early folk blues sound, I really like it

Very, very tempting guitar, esp. for that price (it can be found online for a shade under £100). An electro option would be nice, or maybe a soundhole pickup would "do"?

I set up hundreds of guitars - cheap and expensive brands - and often have to bevel the fret ends. Remember these guitars are coming from humid climates and going to more dry ones. Wood shrinks, metal doesn't, so having a bit of fret-sprout often has more to do with physics than manufacturer neglect.

Sounds nice. What is the scale length?

What is the overall length of the guitar? Is there a case or gig bag designed for i specifically?

Helpful review. I'm a fan of the short scale and regularly play a 60cm parlor. (I believe this is 58cm) unfortunately whilst a 42mm nut width is probably fine for younger players, us old guys, suffering from arthritis need something a bit wider - say 45mm. Still looks and sound great for the price. One other thing, I notice you refer to the body as mahogany, - I was surprised to hear this, given the price versus the controls on the availability of mahogany. So I checked the Aria UK spec and it says "Sapele". You'll probably know that whilst they are both from the same family of trees Mahogany is from the Americas an Sapele is African. They share a similar look, but having worked with/used both, I can tell you they are different. Nice review tho'.

Hi Tom. Thanks for your review. This is a big help and likely to make me purchase one of these. Do you happen to know what size the soundhole is? I've looked all over the net and can't find the info. I love it, but I'd love to be able to use me favourite soundhole pickup rather than carry a mic and amp. Hope you can help. I'd really appreciate it.

I owned this guitar. Incredibly boxy and dead. This ‘review’ is just an advertisement

Can you play rock and roll this kind of guitar. Like rockabilly?

I'd recommend getting a fender telecaster and a cheap amp with a built in delay ! but for acoustics I'd recommend a fender acoustic with a strat neck but it depends whether you would be playing rhythm or lead. I play both and have a n epiphone wildkat hollow-body for rhythm and a tele for lead ! :)

Might as well just get an Alvarez AP70 Parlor guitar, it's not much bigger.
