Greetings: As with many bands, the loss of a major member breaks the band. Such is the case here. In this case, a vocalist diversion killed us vintage followers. I really wish I could digest the new Asia. As it was compiled of diverse members, it divided as such 2 other bands. In Journey's case they found a mimic vocalist. Most did not know until it was published. Those of us vintage followers with 'golden' ears could tell. I'm the case of Rush, Neil Peart RIP. Was a great improvement and contributor. He was the backbone share by 2 others sharing great contributions. However, I do appreciate the share so I can review the afterASIA.

I thought on this album they settled more into their own. Aqua is a good album but they had not settled in and even though there are some very strong tracks. It was so divided up with the musicians and also the tracks were more gathered for the album. This one is who Asia and John Payne really are.

I honestly tried to give the version of Asia with John Payne a chance, but the difference from the Wetton years was too jarring. I would never buy a John Payne Asia album after _Aqua._ I occasionally downloaded mp3s from successive albums to see if I could find anything I liked, but ultimately, John Payne just couldn't win we over. His singing voice and his manner of dress and even his facial hair was so against what I was accustomed to with Wetton's Asia. I preferred Wetton, and nothing could change that. I really wish Wetton had never left Asia after _Then & Now._ I liked a lot of Wetton's solo material during the 1990s, but I really missed that Wetton/Downes musical collaboration. I just felt that Wetton wasn't as good without Asia, and Asia wasn't Asia without Wetton.
@mr.serious2618 Жыл бұрын
Payne’s lyrics are so ridiculous and he sings every song so dramatically that I just can’t take any of it seriously. I swear I listen to these albums sometimes just to get a chuckle.
