This is my attempt to express my love to baroque music. I have never studied composition, so if there is any real composer, be tender to me please. I hope you`ll like it nevertheless. Composed and performed by Jan-M.Rak, performed on viennese 1830 guitar
Tříhlasá Aria ve starém slohu pro kytaru.

That was really nice. It is a rare talent, to be able to produce music that can soothe the soul. I encourage you to keep up the excellent work. Cheers! :)

For someone self-taught in both playing and composition, you have a remarkable talent and understanding of this beautiful style. I applaud you.

I enjoyed hearing it on the Vosges Early Romantick Guitar. I have one just like it and have enjoyed it for many years.

This is an anonymous guitar of an unknown Czech or Austian luthier around 1830`s.

ElGato1704 thanks! The guitar is anonymous, I do not know much about it. It has been a kind of instant love.

Beautiful! Nice guitar as well. Haven't seen you play it before. It has a big sound for such a small guitar!

I have been owning the guitar for only since july, that is the reason. Now I have two: my old Vilaplana and this "new" one:-)

Oh thanks, really, I appreciate your praise. We recorded a short demo of some four jidish songs with Marion (actually we were three counting the guest clarinetist) - I`m pretty sure it was better. Unfortunately I am not able to find it no matter how much I try. We recorded Oyfn pripetchik, Yankele and two more songs in jidish. None of us were Jewish: the three of us were protestant and me - I am catholic... Yet we have always deeply admired jewish culture and history.

Hi, the group does not exist any more. We recorded the CD a long time ago, it must be some 13 years if not more! I was the member of the group for about few months when the decision to record some songs came. I have never played jewish music before, I had no knowledge of it, not at all. The group`s career ended a few years later /something like 2004 I guess/, but we kept playing as a duet called Marion: we did not play songs in hebrew any more but only those in jidish. It doesn`t exist any more.

Hey Jan, recently I stumbled upon Chesed's "Hebrew Songs", and I reallly love it. I wonder if you could tell me a bit about the group- why and how did you decide to do an album of Jewish folk music, if there anything else by the group, what each of you are doing today, etc.

Thanks for replying! Did any of you have any connection to judaism or jewish music? Or did someone came up with the idea out of pure interest in the music or the culture? I forgot writing it in my first comment, but I'm from Israel, and you sang these songs with more excitement and enthusiasm than any Israeli performer I've heard. It's a shame this album isn't known over here.

Sorry for replying as late as now - I haven`t noticed your comment before. As for the question - none of us were Jewish, but we were all interested in Jewish culture and history.

I don't think many guitarist understand what counterpoint melody is. This is 100% NOT counterpoint! Everything played in this video can be notated as 1 melody line that jumps octaves with broken chords.

No, there are three different melodic lines that could easily be notated separately. In fact there are two, the third one appears only in repetitions.

No, there are three different melodic lines that could easily be notated separately. In fact there are just two, as the third one (the middle voice) appears only in repetitions.
