You Sir, are one of the finest Organists that I have heard the privilege of having heard. You are one of the main figures inspiring me to start playing the Organ, and do my part to try and turn around the decline of young organists. Thank you, for this, and all of your other videos.

When I lived in northern NV, I used to visit SLC all the time, and would go to the recitals at TS every so often. I heard this piece played over a decade ago, and came here to find you’d just posted this performance, and I’ve watched it many times over the years. Due to boredom of stuff to do in elko at the time, and seeing how good hauptwerk sounded with your performances, I decided to start building a hauptwerk console myself (I’m a tech hardware engineer). Although it’s still not perfect today, it’s at least functional. This is the first piece I learned. -Thanks for the hobby and the fun it’s turned into over the last 10 years, Rob. I’m still pretty bad at it coming from being a low brass player, but it’s still a great way to pass some extra time. Great to see you’ve been posting some new stuff, and very cool to see how your console and talent have evolved over the years since posting this video. Thanks!

Beautiful playing... the "duet" lines in the RH are so smooth. Love the strings and flute harmonique. Somewhat reminiscent of the Paul Manz Aria. Thanks for posting your recordings!

Rob my friend, I first heard this airily, ruminatively and haunting piece when you played it on the Hauptwerk at Shepherd of the Mountains. I came across it again just now while recuperating from surgery in Park City! Such a relaxing and peaceful harmonization on registration it makes me want to forget about all the problems facing us in the world today. God Bless

This video gives me an incredible sense of peace; there's almost a hypnotic sense about it that effectively calms me when I need to be calmed. I'm going to learn it as my first 'organ' piece.

Thanks Lance, you get a lot of bang for your buck on this piece, it's not too difficult, and it has a very dreamy feel to it. One of my favorites; I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Beautiful, sensitive and fine playing...simply beautiful playing of lovely pieces...this and the Cundick arr. of Jesus the Very Thought of Thee. The Hauptwerk is truly and amazing creation. I've not heard or seen one live but the clips of seen and heard are truly amazing. Will check out all of your videos here. Bravo, fellow organist!

Truly incredible, Rob. I almost cried. Very reminiscent of Ravel's Pavane Pour une Infante Defunte, which incidentally nearly makes me cry as well.

Thanks Emmanuel, I do thicken it up a bit in the middle, but the beginning and end use a fairly straight registration of strings on the Swell and Bourdon + Flute Harmonique. It's definitely one of my favorite combinations on the Metz!

Hi Rob. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful musical selection with us. I thought you played it wonderfully with great phrasing and feeling. I was not yet familiar with the piece.

Holy crap ola. Whose work is this? Who composed this? Joel something or another. It's even more beautiful... the "second time around." /wow. ! We've got to get guy on the synclavier out at UCLA. There's always room for improvement and better audio recording stuff. Right? Right. Like Hans Zimmer once said to me, "Once you come up with the theme... the rest is all in the hands of the (sound) engineers. Artist you know." It's the Forth of July, 2022 AD, in LA, CA, USA and I'm 77 and feel like a 22 year old... but I can't find one. Got to go watch this.

I see this piece is available in print for only $3.50 . Google "Aria On a Chaconne, By Joel Martinson" I found this information by following Rob's link above to listen to recording at Contrebombarde. That site lists the sheet music source.

@PipeQuest I've just got the music for it. It's not too hard, some tricky stretches in the right hand part, but otherwise fairly straight-forward.

Is the sound I'm hearing coming from an external mic or from the software?
@matts.37616 жыл бұрын
It is coming from the software, Hauptwerk by Milan Digital Audio. A free edition can be downloaded from the website: www.hauptwerk.com

I just try to upload the most worthwhile stuff I can for KZbin users, and I'm hoping the suit enhances the presentation :-)
I feel like the composer blatantly copied Paul Manz’s Aria but the playing is nice

Sort of Sugary Richard Clayderman for the Organ. Flor Peeters is much better stuff. For a Canon try Choral by Joseph Jongen. You play with love and conviction, however.
