Elvira clearly thought the situation was a bit funny and didn't think it was that serious, so Ariana and her fans acting like this is some intentional, targetted, vindictive attack is just inappropriate. Instead of acknowledging and validating Elvira's experience and empathizing with what it felt like from her perspective, she's victimizing herself while acting like Elvira should know that her actions were due to mental health problems. Without context, what Ari did was weird, and Elvira is allowed to talk about things that happen to her in her life. Elvira did her a favor and it really seemed like Ariana was taking that for granted. She didn't explain anything to Elvira at the time, so from Elvira's position, she was just being rude. Even with the context it's still rude. Just because something is understandable or even excusable, doesn't mean that other people aren't allowed to be impacted by it. Her response showed a startling lack of empathy while demanding all the empathy in the world from Elvira.

Why is it problematic to alter your appearance to look like different races like you’re putting on and taking off costumes for fun as a rich privileged white person? I mean how much time do you have tbh? So D’Angelo went over some of it when discussing this in the video but she’s taking features of POC that she favors to the extent that she literally looks like she’s that race for the sake of aesthetics and vibes which she heavily profits off of in so many ways (especially her cosmetics company), that POC are heavily discriminated against and receive hate for that are also part of their racial and personal identity. Which brings us to the main reason it’s gross which is it’s extremely dehumanizing to treat racial identities/features like a fun trend that you can throw away or get rid of when you’re done with it or it’s no longer favorable for you. A lot of people and celebrities do this to varying extents, but Ariana has done this to an extent that is unlike anything I’ve seen before and also refuses to acknowledge it. This isn’t using makeup or plastic surgery to enhance your natural features, this is using plastic surgery to straight up change your features all together to look more *insert race here* so you can use makeup to further change them to look more *insert race here* and then when you’re tired of looking *inserted race here* doing it all over again so you can now look like *insert other other race here* do you see how those things are different in that one is normal and the other is unhinged, offensive, and at the very minimum extremely insensitive to people who are the races she altering herself to look like on a whim?
