Yep. I think Kelly Clarkson is a way better singer than Ariana Grande. Sorry. She just is. Kelly has the range and the soul. Sometimes I can't understand what Ariana is saying. She doesn't enunciate well when she sings.

Kelly's tone is so perfect for this, and her runs and belts were taking me out, my stankface was on this whole video. It was so good to see Kelly finally stop holding back like she usually does, lmao, she found a singer she can go all out with. Ariana's head voice and belts were fire too. And Ariana's final run off that sustained G5 was just disrespectful. Blake and John were there too..... They did their thing in the first half of the song lol.

They both sound so good together. A bit unfair to Ariana though, since the song demanded heavier tone like Kelly's. The fact that Ariana, as a light lyric soprano still able to not be completely overpowered is a testament to how much she improved (remember how Jessie J overpowered her singing Bang Bang live back in 2015?) Not to mention that this is kinda a signature song for Kelly to cover. She performed this songs multiple times across her career and kept improving upon it.

I know it’s not a competition, but I enjoyed Kelly’s rendition the most. She gave us range, runs, grit and soul. Ariana was cute but her voice is just simply not meant for this type of songs. Her voice gets incredibly thin and it just doesn’t feel right with this kind of music.
