I completely disagree. If she did it without pharrell I honestly think it would have been more boring. personally my list is 1. breathin - sounds like someone’s making a harmony with those ice taps at the start. 2. everytime - sounds like a train with something in the beat like *toot* *toot* 3. get well soon - it just gets better. the piano is just enough for the listener to fall in love. 4. better off - like a lullaby. it’s something that would make me dream a dream like no other. 5. goodnight n go - imogen heap made this, but ari changed it. I love the harmonies. gotta listen to it again.

Agree, Pharrell did not do a great job as a producer, I prefer the tracks produced by Max Martin and Ilya, I do love sweetener and get well soon which were produced by Pharrell. Not the biggest fan of blazed, Pharrell didn’t save that track it just got a bit boring after like 1 minute. I also agree with you on R.E.M. it’s a great song I love it but i feel they could’ve done a lot more with the track, it’s the song that’s grown on me most tho and it’s a lot higher on my list then it was before. My fave is 100% Breathin, it’s a song I have a strong connection to and the beat is just sooo good!!

Honestly I agree with you and most others here. This album was soo hyped up and I also expected so much more. I will say though her two main singles GIAW and NTLTC are amazing.. They just seem to be the two best songs on the album. A few others are good too but nothing amazing. Dangerous Woman was so much better, loved every single one of those songs.

Finally, a genuine and transparent review of Sweetener album. I’ve been a hardcore ariana tot since FOREVER. Loved every single songs on ME (My Everything), DW (Dangerous Woman), YT (Yours Truly) and even her unreleased songs. I loved them all. But on the day the album released. I listened to the entire album in one go, trying to feel it uk? But I already lost it at ‘blazed’. Honestly, this album is properly promoted and hyped. Slowly releasing TOP tracks like NTLTC, GIAW and oh well, Light is Coming one by one. Hyping the audience so so much. I was really looking forward to this album. But some songs just dont hit the spot you know what I mean? On the other hand though, she did try and experience AND venture into different music styles and vibes. Something she’s never done before. DW was such a lit album, every single songs are FUCKING amazing but it’s all v pop-ish, edm-ish kinda feel. But THIS album. SWEETENER, contains sooo much emotions and messages she want to convey to her fans and general audience. Raindrops, GIAW, NTLTC, Breathin are all instant hooks. REM, Goodnight n go, Pete are such melodic, slow and mellow songs, with goodnight n go has that electronic-ish feel BUT v soft at the same time. Get Well Soon has the most beautiful and uplifting lyrics, that speaks from her experience and trauma from last year. The song includes 40 seconds of silence in honor of ppl of Manchester. The song duration lasts for 5.22 , the date of when the Attack happened. So much details and effort were put into this album and I can’t just not like it you know? Personally, I don’t really dig Borderline, Blazed and Better off. The rest are fine to me. I’m trying to adapt to this new album of her, not an instant hook of addiction, but ik I’ll slowly grow into liking, and eventually loving it.

I feel like this is gonna be a grower for most people. It's different and that's why it threw people off of it I think. The style I think I generally supposed to be more layed back. It's less pop than everything else she's done, and again, it just isn't what her fans are used to. I personally think this is my favorite album of hers. People are really on the fence at the moment, and of course everyone has different tastes, but give it time and a few more listens. She worked hard on this one.

i actually really like this album, and i actually got into it sooo many years after being released, i wasnt very into artists what people would say about their music the way i am now, id just play stuff on youtube or apple music, now im more into that media but i can honestly say that some of these songs take time to get used to, but then u really bop to them. IT HURTS that she didn't like rem or blazed, blazed is so tropical and i love to listen to it on vacation or the beach, and rem felt long at first but the more i just kinda played it, i wished it was longer and felt like it was a dream. and this was all by myself, just kinda running into the album, so trust sometimes u have to familiarize urself w the song to really get it and you end up loving the music.
