Some folks think Nightwish should still be doing '90s Tarja songs, if maybe interpreted by Floor. I'm not one of those folks. I don't mind working a little bit to "get" a song. This is a masterpiece.

I love your reaction. In my Opinion this is not only the evolution of eart, no this is also the evolution of Nightwish. I hear Nightwish since 1996 and and they always come better and better.

I have listened to this a few times and I feel.I really need to listen to the album as a whole. Nightwish seem to be moving from symphonic Metal to Prog Metal. Love it 😊.

Tuomas said about this song: Floor at first is acting to be the preacher of fear, then the kids saying how things really should be and in the last chorus they join and that’s where the magic happens. The children’s choir gives a great twist and balance in the song. Like stated before in Weak Fantasy: Fear is a choice you embrace! Universe: not to spoil anything, but you can stop worrying ❣️

The track was released a few days ago but the video yesterday. I love both the new songs, despite people complaining about the mix. The mix is deliberate and as I pointed out to one complaining reactor, I can hear Floors lyrics perfectly clearly on good phones or speakers, where they are intended as lead vocals (verses). Floor dropping into the mix in chorus is deliberate - Tuomas using her voice as an instrument rather than a lead and that directly relates to your comment about bringing the lyrics to the fire. Lyrics have always been the key to Nightwish and I feel too many people focus too much on the vocal performance itself rather than the message the lyrics are putting across. I see the two songs as further growth of Tuomas' as a composer and look forward to the album (it's on pre-order). The theme of this one is core to the new album according the today's interview with Tuomas. By the way, he thinks the best way to listen to this album will be starting to finish with lyrics and artwork in hand, rather than as separate songs...

It's great to see you back with Nightwish and you know I will always show up when you react to one of their songs. This song is a think-maker. It take multiple listens to even begin to get all that they are saying. Leave it to Nightwish to not insult us with nonsense.

Couldn’t agree more. Nightwish has always been substantial in their philosophy album to album, but now the deep lyrics take more precedence than ever. Yesterwynde will be a slow burn from having so much more subtlety to observe and make sense of. Just like with Human Nature, my favorite song from the album will change over time. I remember hearing Procession thinking “what an unusual arrangement” but after hearing it along with Human Nature about 10 more times, it is now my favorite song off that album. The Day Of is sort of comparable. An unusual form, with a lot of underlying meaning… I think for a band with such a legacy, this is their riskier, but more unpredictable arc.

Thank you! I did like the song... maybe more than Perfume of the Timeless. It's a very interesting song. This song did grow on me more, just like Perfume of the Timeless, the more I listened it. The beginning of the music video is really cool! I just wish that they would have had a proper story line in it throughout out the video. The rest of the video they were just...falling. Sure, that looked cool too... but I think they could have done something more with it. But my favourite part of the song is the instrumentals... especially the instrumental part in the middle. That's so Nightwish! And I really liked it! I love that the choir is back. I like how Nightwish is getting back to more of their symphonic elements... like in ONCE.

They back to choruses but this is very far from Once. Guitars had a short presence in this song. Once was the perfect mix between orchestrations, choruses and wild riffs.

A bit of a new way to go for Nightwish, with the children choir, having as much singing time as Floor almost i belive, Floor is doing some fast phrasing here to, something like she does in the song Shoemaker, kind off i think. The Ill starred kids of your junkyard thats us humans right, People today are getting told all kind of doomsday things, AI and war will end the world, but this song says, the end is fear, its not near, armagedon aint coming tommrow, so life your life, hide the unshot guns doomsday predictors tell is gonna blast. Also notice that Floor joins the kids choir at end and connect that to her charecter she is in video, she realize something during video, Toumas said so in a interview i watched.. I didnt read the book 1984 written by George Orwell, but the song got reference to that book i belive. At first listen i needed another listen, at 3th listen the song got me, and i started like the children choir, i actually think its a pretty good song, and something not heard like this from NW before, now i listened to the song many times! This is not a Empuu shine song, there is heavy guitar rhytm in the middle section and end, but not the big Empuu solo, but i also think this song dosent need it, because the Children choir takes spotlight instead,.. The title the day off.. is missing telling what its the day off, so i think this is where you can put in the optimistic view of the song, as a listener, if you like to, and hear the song that way, the listener decide what its the day off. The original idea was this one to be 1st single, but then Tuomas decided it should be Perfume of the timelees, and this 2nd.

Not a one listen banger - totally different style, IMHO in the beginning the video was not good, but after 10 times seeing it even it grew on me. Listen only the song/music few times and the song grows into you easily - a difficult one this one, love that they are trying different styles and not just make songs replicated from Nemo, GLS, The Greatest Show On Earth and take an easy bucks in and satisfy many "I know NW, this is NW and this is how I want them to sound forever", because everyone would just be bored with them after a while..

Good to see you again. There have recently been three stunning singles dropped by Simone Simons (Epica) from her forthcoming "solo" album, which is basically a collaboration with Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon). If you haven't yet watched them, and don't mind doing a few more music reactions, would be good to see your opinions of them. Post edit - sorry, you've already reacted to her first single Aeterna - Two more you haven't seen - In Love We Rust and R.E.D.

I kind of feel they're somewhat bored with what they were doing (they've more than proved they can do that). Floor kind of showed that on her solo album as well. Worth noting that Simone and Charlotte have also explored different avenues, which I find cool. Artists evolve or they become legacy acts. Nothing wrong with legacy acts, but they aren't going to surprise you. And I like being surprised!
@kammurabi23133 ай бұрын
Good point. I think Tuomas is very conscious about Nightwish not ever becoming a legacy band. Their final tour might be something like a Decades II but then that will be the extent of it. In ten or twenty years if Tuomas has nothing else left to say in a Nightwish voice, then that will be all. For now there is not even a sign of that approaching.

Did they promise you something but didn't deliver? I bet Nighwish never promised you anything, so don't be disappointed. Don't ever expect anything from anyone, otherwise you will make yourself disappointed over and over again. It wasn't NW that disappointed you, you made it all by yourself by feeling the way feel.
