Ariel Helwani joins Pablo Torre and Katie Nolan for a Share and Tell episode of ‪@PabloTorreFindsOut‬ and discusses the recent profile on Shams Charania and the "personal jail" of being a news breaker, including why he stopped doing it for the MMA world. Then the three discuss their screen time and unread email lists and the plague that group chats have become for some parents.

Thanks for this conversation. I’ve been really realizing more and more how social media really drives people’s lives now. It’s really scary and I wonder how much of a better world we’d be if it didn’t exist vs how the benefits of connecting us.

theres another side to this....for those of us that just never cared to be on scrolling and posting your life, willingly giving up your privacy...ppl make you feel like you gotta be an antisocial weirdo when thats furthest from truth personally , my girl makes fun of me for making the most random friends like waiting in a long line. and when i was single, when girls cant find you on social they say youre a "serial killer" plus also how ppl are starting to notice at concerts and sporting events ppl are rather record to post for others to see instead of watching in the moment

Glad to see Katie Nolan dealing with her recent problems in a productive way. Would very much like her back in the sports media landscape.

@13:45 When Katie says "you don't know anything about me" I'd have to work "Crowd Goes Wild" into the retort somehow

I went to Journalism school with Shams, had a few classes. I'm very surprised he's made it this far, and good for him. He was always late to every class and had a kind of like "meh" attitude to everything. It was kind of a joke that went around the Journo school. But im happy for him, guy leveled up big time since graduating.

Lol you should really look up his story because I remember well an interview where he talked about starting as an insider while in Journalism school and how he couldn’t be fully invested in school, I believe the interview was on Pardon My Take.

Social media and the constant need to be first--and not necessarily accurate--is one of the many dystopian shitstorms Orwell, Bradbury, and Huxley warned us about.

In our aspie-dominated, socially defective, knee-jerk world, it means the difference between having a job in sports or selling insurance.

What gives any of these guys the right to judge what makes someone happy? This whole segment reeks of jealousy.
