60s underground Garage Rock has lots of awesome stuff. This is a good example of the surf rock inspired stuff, but there were also bands that had a lot heavier sound and were considered the beginning of punk rock and metal. But that stuff remianed underground until like '68. This song is more a '66 vibe.

He draws from all kinds of sources. I hear some Beach Boys, some 90's music, he even throws in some 60's and 70's pastel pop. I love Sonic Youth 90s noise rock, and I see a lot of that influence in his stuff too. If you hear Gin Blossoms who are good, you are probably right also.

Ariel Pink was written in an article in the Chicago Tribune a few months ago. There was a picture of him wearing black clogs. For Christmas my 8 year old daughter asked for "Ariel Pink" clogs. What?
