Ursula is probably one of the best villains in Disney. She told Ariel EVERYTHING about the contract from the start. She didn't force Ariel to sign the contract; Ariel did that of her own free will. Ursula also doesn't collect unless they don't fulfill THEIR end of the bargain. She may be pure evil, but she is a woman of her word. I think that's what makes her one of the best villains. She's not only realistic in a sense, but she is also the kind of villain you love to hate. That is very hard to pull off.

Here’s a thought, just a thought, don’t get mad or whatever, but what if Ursula wasn’t evil till the end of the movie, she was helping those merfolk, but they didn’t/couldn’t repay, so she gave them the consequence.

Okay I can explain why they haf that reaction when Ariel was turning into a human. The only reason is cause they got surprised and worried about Ariel cause no merperson went and did what Ariel did cause she did all of that to be human and be with Eric. I hope this help understand.
