I am a Yamaha tech since 1992 and yes you are absolutely right about the oil change and the oil filter that can go on dry. There is absolutely no harm in that. Cheers

Oil is dense, so get it flowing fast enough and it'll literally scrape metal fragments of the bottom of your motor and suspend them. Which is exactly what it does when your riding it hard.

Thanks for the series of excellent videos. I'll double down on your comments concerning knowing your bike intimately. To do that you must do the vast majority of maintenance yourself, at 1st in your garage with plenty of time & the ability to '"walk away" when things aren't going smoothly. Its amazing how often a task goes easily after returning when you've cleared your head. Its been a lifesaver on the trail when a problem arises & you can clearly think through the system involved & what can be wrong. You'll only have this ability if you work on your bike. I've seen so many riders who just dont want to take the time to learn these skills. With no real training, I've changed suspension fluid, replaced wheel bearings, oil/gear oil changes, lubed swingarms, changed countershaft sprockets, cracked a 2 stroke engine case to replace a seal, replaced clutch plates, replaced piston.......One key is spending wisely to get proper tools, dont try to fix everything with a hammer & screwdriver. You can even conjure up decent homemade tools rather than buying expensive ones that may only be used once. Its so easy now with you tube videos, no excuse.

@@MotologyFilms perhaps kiwi's & to a lesser extent Aussies.. are just pragmatic & hands on realistic in how things work.. great vid's thanks.. do a wee demo with oil & pour a change into a clear fiz bottle & see what settles on the bottom.. shine a torch through it & see what you see.. yeah I've ALWAYS promoted only hot changes.. AND.. NEVER.. top up.. its waaaay better to change it, if it needs a top up.. chucking good into bad sorta !.. & wet clutches have an impact

Great video Adam you cannot beat having experience under your belt beit racing , working on bikes, adventure survival experiences where you only have yourself to sort the problem or situation out. There is always someone who could have done it better on a keyboard and that’s it. They don’t go onto to show themselves in a video actually doing it in fact they don’t even upload any video social media of any use to anyone. Well said owned TT350 28 years and the oil you have to bleed the air out of it at top of filter housing. I always used Motul. Rebuilt top end once and still going strong, You have to bleed it while its running. Loving the content and tips keep it up. Thanks.

Just thought I'd add that you're absolutely right about air moving through a dry filter much easier than a wet filter. I sometimes "validate" new filters used for air filtering for bio-containment for research labs. Those filters get filled with a specific liquid to wet the filter, then pour the stuff out, then use a machine to perform a bubble limit test to see what psi it takes to force air through it. For that specific liquid, much thinner than oil, it takes approximately 30 psi for those filters.

How refreshing it is, to hear someone talk about ( heaven forbid) old school Enduro skills and mechanical knowledge. Being a former (by many years. Raced an IT200 in the 80's) Enduro rider. I still service my bike/s with their respective tool kits. If I need to take a tool out of my toolbox to do a job......Then that tool must find a place in the tool kit permanently 👍👍 As always, superb content kept real. Love it Adam. Ps. I am a Sales Office Johnny with no mechanical skill but since getting in to offroad riding in the last 5 years, I have learnt how to change tyres, clutch packs, brake pads and fluids, service forks and change springs, valve clearance checks and numerous accessory installations. Apart from loving the experience, you are right on it, it has taught me about my machines and how to deal with trouble when out on adventure rides and trips. Hey Adam, this video series is super helpful. You take the mystery out of it. I got into the adventure riding game about 2 years ago after having not ridden a bike in 35 years. I bought a KTM 890 R which has been an amazing bike - capable enough for an expert but forgiving enough for a beginner. I was intimidated by it at first, but have gradually done more and more. I just had the fork seals done, and pulled the fork tubes off myself. I can’t agree more that a rider really needs to understand his or her bike to get the most out of it. Looking forward to using your chain adjustment technique. Cheers!

100% agreed, the infamous, capricious and increasingly politically correct YT algorithm is tricky to please and quick to demonetize or give strikes etc, and it seems to me that they (YT) are making it harder and harder to please the algorithm enough so it shows new content for some reason. You are awesome! Little comment on the chain tension. If you get a new tenere (in my case a WR) check your tension. Mine was waaaaaaaay to tight off the factory. Weird buzzing sound when loaded up!!!

Been riding dedicated street bikes and cruisers and dedicated dirt bikes for 15+ years. New to adv bikes. Bought a t7 this week. After watching your vids it solidified my choice on bike. I will never claim to be the smartest guy in the room. Always looking for more wisdom and new ideas. Thats why ive subscribed. For a no bs kinda honesty. Less techy and more, get it done proper and back on its wheels. If you dont have a vid out yet, id like to see an excise to get more intune with slow speed technical riding of a 400+lb dirt bike. I get by alright on the yz250f but could really benefit from pointers from a 30 yr riding vet. Possibly some excises helping show slow speed with loaded soft bags. Keep up the vids, theyre gold👍🏻

Another great vid. The silicon thing is interesting, I've always used talc. I would worry about the tyre turning on the rim and ripping the valve out. Do you use a rim lock on the rear ??

Your advices are really good as your vision of mechanics. Good to see something else than products test. With all the luggage, light, and protection test many forget to really ride their bike. The bike value go up on the market but the value for them go down. Just ride the bike as you do.

A personal choice for excellence encompasses an individuals entire existence, so it's no surprise all things are squared away in Mr Riemann's life. One look at his video output proves that. As your chain progresses through its lifetime, its probably worth finding any tight spots before setting the tension in the in-line(geometrically tightest) suspension position. Congratulations on completing that tyre change while talking at the same time, I certainly wouldn't want to do that.
