basically, all these type of snowblowers are underpowered, by swapping with a slightly bigger engine, it makes a world of difference to my experiencel, when doing such a power increase, it is necessary to add some weight to the front of the bucket to avoid the blower climbing on the snow instead of biting in., I done something similad and I had to add 60 lbs to the front of the bucket to control the climbing action. very good project

I like it. where did you find that double pulley with the dive pulley all in one? part number?

Thank you, the drivepulley and augerpulleys are seperate pulleys. I orderer them from surpluscenter.com. Drive pulley is standard size but I willreplace and increase diameter for more drive speed. Auger pulley is 4,5" if I remember correct. This will almost double the auger speed from 1100 to 1800 rpm with 3600 rpm engine speed. www.surpluscenter.com/Pulleys-V-Belts/Finished-Bore-Pulleys/

How has the auger gearbox held up after some use?

Hi, Unfortunatly I have not been able to test it that much, due to little snow, plus I have a contractor to plow for me. I think the hearbox will hold up just fine. It is very solid compared to many other blowers I have seen. The sheer bolts on the augers on the other hand has big problems staying in one piece...

Might do this with a 30" Ariens and 16hp briggs vanguard. The old EFI engine would run, but all the electric computer junk got fried.

Only reason to go with 27hp is because my dad is building one with a 24(?) Hp Onan engine. Orginal plan was a used 22hp Vanguard, but it got sold just in front of my nose so I had to buy a brand new engine.
