Normally, I wouldn't share too much in a comment, but this reading resonated a lot ( a lot of readings have been nailing what my intuition has been saying). I had been in a 23-year marriage that has been prohibiting my growth. He wants me to be the 20yo broken girl he married. I made the decision that it was never going to be the support I needed and tried to leave last April, but he refuses to let me go. We have three children (2 still at home), and I have continued to play his game so I didn't completely uproot their lives. I recently reconnected with an old love and it feels like it was for the purpose of healing what was lost and what never was able to happen. The timing was never right. We had a love affair 20 years ago and we recently reconnected in very deep ways, spiritually and creatively. I'm a writer and decided to write a story exploring what we woulda/coulda/shoulda done if things had been different. It's been very healing reconnecting and I feel like I recovered a part of myself that I didn't know I lost when he left. He's 9000 miles away so our friendship is long distance and I don't expect that to ever change. Strangely he got COVID and I got the flu at the same time. Things went from very hot to stalled. The thought 'love sick' comes to mind. It slowed things down just like you said. I feel like we healed and grieved together and it deepened our friendship. My situation exactly. I moved on from what I was and still kinda am sure is my twin flame, but he came back and I was happy to try again but got used and abused again so even though he's going to pass away soon which is why deciding to walk away is so damn hard, I am walking away. I tried but after healing from and Mourning the same person over about 6 years burned me 10 times as bad when they swung back in... it sucks to have to heal again esp with his imminent death but I'm trying. I wanna date and find love but I know I need more time. I've never done anything for me and this year is officially the first year of my life, at 36, that I am. I'm going to finish my bachelors this year, convert a van and live on the road and just LIVE for once. Rn if love comes it comes. But I'm not ready to get out there for fear of repeat toxic-codependency and if it's good, I'll be too anticipant of "the other shoe" and sabotage it inadvertently. 😮‍💨
