You can't bang sapphire crystal around also. Yes they are a tad more stratch resistant than mineral crystal in terms of hardness but they are just as easily to break. Anyway, beautiful watch dial to see on a Aries Gold. I keep seeing them coming out with more beautiful and innovative designs.

On the case back, it is written Sapphire. Does this refer to the main crystal or just the case back?

Hi, it's the case back that's sapphire. The front crystal is a boxed mineral.
