I agree with vlad about music. Talent alone can get you to the next level if everything is perfectly aligned in the world, the chances of that happening are slim to none. Money doesn't mean you'll make it to the next level long term neither. It takes multiple working parts to make it in music and last for multiple years. On top of that you have multiple working parts trying to stop you from making it too. I didn't read that book, but as a uniquely talented artist I do it for myself and throw it out there just in case things are aligned; I put effort into it for a shove just in case all it needs is a push start for momentum, but don't be upset if it it doesn't reach certain levels.

Hittman was prominent on 2001 but it wasn't an album built around him. The music business is extremely grimy, cutthroat, and tough but sadly, that's the way it goes for most people even with the backing from someone like Dre who has a whole laundry list of artists on Aftermath who went nowhere on there. Bishop Lamont was a prominent rapper, super talented and great artist who was close to Dre and worked on Detox for years from the mid 2000s to I guess like 2010, and he had to finally leave. In the meantime, he still put out fantastic mixtapes trying to build his buzz to some notice and acclaim until it was his turn. As far as I know, he signed some Aftermath deal that stipulated that he couldn't get put on until Detox was done and out which turned out to be a labyrinthian nightmare for obvious reasons. It's also that Iovine didn't see the mainstream marketability in Bishop even if Dre was very close to him in the studio for years. It's a whole saga but like Hittman, the music business is not kind and even having all of the talent, backing, and image doesn't guarantee a thing.
