I can relate. I'm also in my 30s and I want to pick up digital art skills in 2D and 3D. As a computer guy the applications make a lot of sense to me but the actual... *art* part is mindboggling. I'm considering taking courses to make sure I'm not wasting my time doing things fundamentally wrong and ingraining bad habits. Finding motivation, energy and time is the bigger obstacle, though. Especially when you were raised with a fixed mindset instead of a growth mindset and can't feel satisfied with your beginner quality work. Practicing feels like failure, when it should feel like progress.

Totally relatable. Hope you find your fun! I endorse taking classes if you have the cash. At the very least, you are focused to one task and subject whereas learning on your own can lead to an unfocused flurry of trying to learn everything
