Amazing singing and not only fro Bartoli. Somehow she makes this difficult aria sound very natural. But hard to justify her costume. Looks like a female badass AriodantA

Well Bartoli smoking a cigar is something that you don't see every day :)

I've always wondered about it: don't you thin Lurcanio is the ACTUAL HERO of this opera, really. He's the one that actually killed the villain. But then, right after that, Ariodante just appears out of blue, and sings one of the most glorious and celebrated Handel arias of them all. It just isn't FAIR. LOL I must mention, as a consolation, I LOVED Rolando Villazon's rendition of "Dopo notte" in his Handel aria album. Some of the greatest Handelian tenor singing I've heard. After all, it is the Baroque was the predecessor, "the parents", if you will, of Bel Canto. And as much as I love Bartoli, I don't think it's an ideal role for her. She's lacking masculinity in sound as well as in appearance. And in this Salzburg production, if I remember correctly, Ariodante actually "transitions", doesn't he. LOL
