"You should come to Korea. Korea is going to be an extremely exciting country for the next 10, 20 years."
"Donald Trump should take the American troops home tomorrow and say guys, [North and South Korea] this is your problem. You sort it out. President Moon should go up to the border and open the border just like in Germany."
"North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and President Moon should meet at the border, take down the border and have a K-POP concert."
  - Jim Rogers (March 2019)
The highly anticipated North Korea, U.S. Summit in Hanoi ended without an agreement, but the North continues to show signs of interest in opening up its economy and financial experts around the world are taking note of its outstanding growth potential.
But, few have been as vocal, proactive, and for so long as this legendary investor.
Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings, first made his name cofounding the Quantum Fund in 1973 whose portfolio then gained an extraordinary 4-thousand-2-hundred percent in the next ten years to follow.
An author of several investment bestsellers and a popular commentator on financial news for his quick wit and brilliant investing insights, the American businessman has had his eyes fixed on an unusual investment destination for years - even before the thawing of inter-Korean relations last year - North Korea.
As early as in January 2015, Rogers said he would invest his entire fortune in North Korea, only if he could.
More than four years later, the billionaire is an outside director of a South Korean resort developer in North Korea's Mt. Geumgang where he expects the now-stalled joint inter-Korean tour program will resume well within his three-year term.
For the investment legend's thoughts on North Korea and the Korean Peninsula as a fantastic investment opportunity, what that means for the South Korean economy, why he offloaded all of his Japanese holdings and his forecast of the global economy, Arirang TV's chief anchor Connyoung Jennifer Moon speaks to Jim Rogers for Arirang Special: Jim Rogers On Untapped Prospects.

I was lucky met Jim Rogers in Singapore - at Raffles hotel - on 2010 during the presentation of his book: "A gift to my children". Very inspiring, humble and down to earth. Luckily, at the time i woked in city state, met him again casually at Tiffany's.

@@phoenix11994466 America wants threats to itself removed. But it doesn't want peace. Once that threat is removed, it will return to the status quo of isolation and demonization of NKorea. But NKorea obtained nukes to change those self-serving calculations. NKorea is giving Washington an ultimatum: permanent peace or nuclear war. That's what finally brought Washington to the negotiating tables. But people like you falsely believe it's Washington who wants peace. Guffaw.

The business model for North and South Korea is East and West Germany, unification was difficult in the short term, but long term it was successful. The US had it's own Civil War also, which is still affecting politics in the USA. Korea was a Japanese Colony during WWI and WWII.

Jim Rogers is probably right about government debt putting a dark cloud over the world economy. However, he seems a little naive about some of the problem players on the global scene.

ahh I love Jim Rogers... and his sense of humor. Indeed, they should open up with a kpop concert at the dmz. lol.. With regards to american meddling and attempting to persuade NK with reunification efforts. This makes a lot of sense. I wasn't aware that behind the scenes the two koreas were seeking some terms of reunification. I can see why the Trump/Kim talks were taking place. Before Rogers reveal, I knew absolutely it had to do with trade and finance. What people don't realize is that if NK or Iran were to even an arm a nuclear missile they would be obliterated before a missile even launched. Nuclear arming of a missile doesn't go unnoticed. So the talks must be to keep the two koreas seperated and both economic satellites to the dollar hegemony. Re-unification of the two koreas will result in a stronger more independent country for sure.

You follow vietnam as a template, If NK opens up I don't expect it to go high tech immediately workforce will need to be educated and trained to international standards and that takes time but in the immediate construction related will be good, if NK opens up government AID from Japan SK US china russia will pour in and that AID will pave way for that much needed infrastructure. roads utilities construction equipment later on food production buy a cattle ranch or pig farming you look around there are cities surrounding NK all growing cities need food china has insatiable demand for pork improved farming will be much of NK economy in the first decade or so later on when the education system and training catches up to intl standards and when the neighbors become expensive factories from china and SK will relocate into NK to tap 25 million cheap but by then educated work force.
