I think this is a good explanation of why exist fast people with entry level hardware, no FFB or even with gamepads (or at least faster than guys with wheels and pedals). This people are in the proactive/alien range. They achieved a great understanding and feeling of concepts such as the racing line and the circle of traction to the point that they need only visual and auditory references at most to pointing the car where they needed at the speed required.

@untitled. Maybe, maybe not. Of course you need time and having more age the less time is available because life. A more methodic way of practice to safe time is possible tho. But let say starting at 45 vs starting at 13 at equal available time, I think is not unbalanced. Sim racing is a hobby that attracts many people from the 30 to 70 old range, so there are a bunch of quick guys. Another example, Robert Fleurke is 50 years old and is one of the fastest in Grand Prix Legends at the moment.

You know that ACC is a brilliant simulator when you really notice that your mood or your energy affects dramatically to your lap times, because you're going from proactive to lazy. Many times I go for a quick race before going bed and after 2 or 3 laps I say to myself ¨what the hell? Just leave it and come back tomorrow¨. And it's what I end up doing many times. The rest of the times I stay for a while because even when I'm aware I'm driving the lazy way, the game is too addictive and I say ¨f*** it, I will finish 18th but I'm enjoying as a child with a new toy¨ :)

Fantastic video. Thumbs up. This is a lesson i learned best when i came back to simracing and get into DR2.0. Driving a Group B machine, you just cannot be lazy you need to be in charge of the car. Until this day i swerve from Lazy to Proactive. The problem with the Lazy style is also that your reflexes get even slower, specially if you have a fairly stable car. So a break of traction that normaly would be easy to catch, turns into a a loss of controll. Easy to be proactive in the morning when you are fresh and very easy to become a lazy driver when you aproch bedtime or had a tiresome day and don't wanna sweat behind the wheel :P

Wow, I was always wondering why my laps were more competitive on an F40 than other "easier" cars although I am a slow driver. I love this car on AC so much that it forced me to drive proactively, and out of my usual cautious driving. There was no other way around it to make a good lap. Now it makes more sense!

No idea mate, I have no knowledge on all licensing matters. Personally I highly doubt it as ACC is an official series simulator and not a generic one. It's like asking codemasters Formula1 to include nordschleife...

heheh yeah I know, but unfortunately ADAC is a completely different series (although same homologation cars participate) and needs different licenses etc. :(

Lazy or reactive driver is just lack of experience and practice. When you start to undestand what car is telling you through ffb and did a lot of practice you become proactive. Alien is natural talent combined with hard work to get better.

No, not really. Many aliens don't even use FFB. But, don't bother about outright speed. If realism and immersion is what you're after, a DD wheel is a massive improvement.

I'm a SuperKart driver ...in my small 10 years experience of driving . I know exactly the meaning of that , but I have the perfect example ; Rally drivers are beyond GT3 or F1 level they have to memorize the track by paper map or 3d reproduction of it in a computer and then drive it once and after they race. The level of awareness' rally drivers have , compared to Kart drivers or f1, gt3 , lmp1 is just INSANE; I'm probably 0.2 seconds before reality but they are already 4 seconds beyond reality , that's create the Makinen, Richard Burns,Sainz they are Aliens x 2 . Funny , when you see those drivers in a race their job seems soooo simple ; like me after 3 years I had done 10-12 kart races and this old pal 60yr old was sooo fast man that's the kind of skills you get with experience. Mists of nowdays drivers are fast but not that fast. To name another one a very big name; Tazio Nuvolari was ahead of his era ,driving cars /bikes at 250km/h with barely any brake and tarmac really show how skillful they were...now give the same car and track to a 2020 F1 driver and they can barely hold that shit on track because they are lazy the expect the car to guide them to the next corner. I love your content, you really competent. Insomma spacchi di brutto fratello! ;D

The example at the end is not exact. Imagine legendary sportsmen of the past in their best transported to present times: Give Tilden modern tennis racquet: he will be destroyed by an ATP 2000th ranked player. Give Ted Lindsay modern hockey equipment: he will not survive any college league match. This is just vice versa. You train with some type of gear and although the basics are the same the conditions have changed. Rohrl would be great in actual WRC. Loeb would do great in group B. Both would need some time to adapt themselves to the technique though.

That doesn’t make much sense because you are also beyond reality in the same aspect. You are predicting what the car does and they have an even better prediction of their car. A fair comparison would be that they have a reaction time better than yours.

Sorry to be an evil advocate here but i mean the second way sounds like memorization of not only the track but also the car. It makes it a bit boring to drive though because you pretty much dictate and prevent things from happening. This is probably good for hot lap but not good for racing when you actually have to react to so many things including your opponents and their behaviors. I remember reading a racing book by a GT3 champ named Michael. He advocates for driving “reactively”. I guess this way is better for racing. I dont like how this is labeled as “lazy”. Reactive driving by definition is “pro-active”. This is what makes racing fun. By the way, i have bought ACC and absolutely the best, the best racing game as of today :)

Yes, just like a real car, listen for the wheelspin. You don't have any wheel feedback while drag racing.. But you can still control wheel traction perfectly.

It is, its just much more difficult than with force feedback I had to rely on visual and audio cues of the game (I'm using t80 btw)
