Nigeria has the opportunity of earning billions of dollars annually from tourism during the months of December and other yearly cultural events . Let's give Credit to lagos State government for show-casing Nigerian to the world during the last Dirty December events. All the State Governments should take these opportunities to create the environment to accommodate these tourists flocking to Nigeria during the Dirty December and other annual cultural invents. There is a need to invest in good roads, world class Hotels , electricity and large areas for Concerts . All states in Nigeria have the opportunity to create great revenue for their States. Nigeria with the largest population of black people on Earth and with broad diverse cultural heritage, has the unique position to show case this uniqueness to the world.

@@tuneryclassic it has to do more with the attitude of the people than the efforts of the state government. There is need for attitudinal change among the people. The state waste management is doing a very good job given the massive population and the level of waste generated on daily basis. They don't only work during the day, they also work through the night every day to keep the city clean. The people need to be disciplined and avoid indiscriminate refuse disposal.

It's not that bad outside Lagos, it's the media that makes it look as if once you step out of Lagos, something bad will happen to you. Many people travelled to their villages all over the country and they were safe. People should stop this scaremongering; govt on its part should keep making sure the country is well secured so foreigners can visit in peace

BALLING IN NIGERIA, BUT THE REAL VALUE-CHAIN IMPACT IS ABROAD. I think entertainment and flex is great. But i don't think it's a good thing that people come in for something as under-productive as just having fun. The drinks, decor, sound equipments, and all that is required for fun is still imported. The world is moving fast towards the future with AI, EV and massive manufacturing. We are priding ourselves as attracting people to come and have fun. Strippers have started adding to our GDP and ability to consume alcohol of N1.2m on a table is now our selling point. I hope you all are ready for the Liver and kidney problems + the public health concerns from STIs. Kudos to local produces of fashion, even without a textile industry. Ankara is even imported from China. I wish we can compete on the global stage with reasonable things, not coolness and flex. Lets's not forget productivity while having fun, they can easily be a trade-off.

I was one of those spending my money in Lagos needed a two weeks holiday with friends rather than go to Bail or boring Dubai we decided Lagos sunshine, beach, show us your city, and amala 40k. FYI out of the 5 of us I was the only Nigerian , doing my bit for my Eko (thank me later) .

You do know that entire cities can thrive off off the tourist industry. People coming to those cities fund hotels, motels, restaurants, transportation, grocery stores, food markets, clothing stores, shoe stores, car rental industries, air lines, jewelry stores, barber shops, hair salons, spas, and the list goes on. It's called ripple effect. You can start with one industry and then build the other industries around it. It's a start to something greater. Stay positive and follow the tide and build on what is happening right now.

How was this statistic arrived at? Was there a survey of passengers who disembarked from incoming flights? I bet there was none of that! The non inclusion of any state in the Southeast in this category of top destinations of international travellers makes this report inaccurate. Hotels were sold out in cities like Owerri and Enugu during this period. Additionally, flights out of Lagos to the Southeast were sold out throughout the period, forcing many passengers to fly to Port Harcourt and embark on road travel into the Southeast.

Seaport is a major source of revenue. The more revenue you have, the more amenities you are able to provide, both government and individuals. Did you hear the top earners? Eko Atlantic and Banana Island. The federal government has a lot to do in that area. It's not bad if we have 4 or 5 functioning seaports in this country. Port Harcourt seaport is more or less non-existent. The access road is in a mess.

Those are Nigerians born in the Diaspora. They are not African Americans. I saw one video, a lady talking down on her visit to Nigeria for Detty December. These year Nigeria cashed out in December no wonder they started making argument, comparism with Ghana. But all these while Ghana has been having foreigners come for Detty December, we have never for once mentioned Nigeria to make comparism argument. Thanks to Ghana who introduced foreigners to africa December events. Ghana being named by UNESCO as Tourist destinated country among the rest. Nigeria should work on their tourism sector.

You are right. However, our detty December crowds have been majorly Nigerians in diaspora + Nigerians at home since time immemorial. The 2024 Nigeria's detty December surprised we Nigerians that are at home because there was no campaign, promo or easy access to visa by the govt or corporate organisations to encourage anybody to come to Nigeria for this yearly event like the "Year of Return" in Ghana like you mentioned. The Nigerian govt are not big on tourism. Also, personally I don't want an event that will encourage the huge influx of people into an already populated country. Adding more will stretch the infrastructure that is barely enough for our population. So I just pray it continue to be more of an in-house thing amongst only we Nigerians.

It seems everyone is flooding to Nigeria One don't blame them because Nigeria is the best place to be 😉😂 Due to the rat race western lifestyles Compare to enjoyment lifestyles in Nigeria 😉😂 Most Nigerians prefer to be in Nigeria If there were lots of opportunities in Nigeria Don’t think Nigerians will leave Nigeria 😂 Maybe just to visit other countries but not leave 😂 In the western word happiness is measured, commercialised, and rationed Also people can be penalised for being happy 🤨 In Nigeria happiness isn’t measured or rationed everyone is allowed to happy and it isn’t a criminal offence That’s why we’re flooding to Nigeria 😂

The world all over already knows that Africa is not a single country, I don't know why and how that becomes a cultural or political slogan. In my opinion, it's very poor selling point or slogan, especially in these days of ever-growing Pan-Africanist movements all over Africa, the Caribbean, America, and Europe.
