It's not about policies, it's about keeping them. What if the Local government officials chose to embezzle the money it still the same thing. I hope they also put in place measure ensure the funds are used appropriately.

The supreme Court judgement is sweet to hearing and it will bring a rapid development to the locals. But in my opinion, the judgement is setting a bad precedence. The judiciary has no right to override the Constitution or expunge any part of it. The Constitution is explicit on the payment of allocation to the local government, which should be paid directly into the state/local government joint account. The court has no power to override this. But, with the judgement of the supreme Court, they have overridden the Constitution. We are rejoicing now, because it's in the favour of the masses, but the government will also use this against us. We should remember in the last election where the INEC chairman was boasting of transmitting the election results in real-time but after the election, he said there were technical glitches. The Sam supreme Court said, INEC can't transmit election results in real-time because it's not constitutional. I think the best thing the federal government should have done is to approach the national assembly for amendment of section 162. We cannot resolve illegality with illegality.

What is the basis of creating a local govt? Since the LG alocation is to be shared to the 774 of them by Federal Govt, then it will be important that the States should have equal numbers of local govt to enable equal opportunities

Have u talked about the tenement rate and advertisement permit that constitutionally rested in the local government schedule but was hijacked by lagos state governor from local government. State governors should returns the revenue items of local government back to them. Meanwhile, if the politicians and head of the civil servant are not corrupt d subordinate will be corrupt.
