The most powerful thing here isn't really the Crit Draw but your perfect positioning and how you read the monster's attacks pattern. Great job.

Always landing a charged GS attack is my favorite feeling in Monster Hunter.. it's sometimes hard with the placement and timing, but the euphoria it causes when connects is second to none.. pure bliss

My favorite was tanking any hit in the game with a Lance while everyone has to doge or run away.

Ironically, the big dumb "hit with maximum force" stick is the weapon that requires the player really know the monster to do amazingly well with. You have to anticipate where the part of the monster will _be,_ not where it currently is - because chances are by the time you're done charging, it'll be somewhere else.

As much as I love TCS and shoulderbash, nothing beats the raw satisfaction of those Crit Draw swings. I was forced into using a Crit Draw build for Alatreon in Iceborne and it was the most satisfying hunt ever.
@hunkirino2 жыл бұрын
Same here with me. I've always been a crit draw GS main from the old world. But since World came out, I adapted and loved the new GS mechanics. With alatreon though... That fight was frustrating with teammates. I knew I couldn't depend on people and the new GS mechanics if I wanna break through his elemental damage checks so I resorted back into the hit and run crit draw style of GS, created a new build, watched many many videos on how to solo him and I FINALLY beat Alatreon eventually! It was THE most memorable and satisfying moment in monster hunter for me next to beating fatalis in World. I definitely know what you mean when you memorize his move sets and how to punish him in between his attacks while also I-frame rolling through them. It really felt symbolic for me looking back into old gen games haha
@inazumatan70502 жыл бұрын
Fatalis, as well. They made it hard but not satisfying since all the hit boxes are shit. I ended up having to do the cone bait technique on a lot of weapons.

Every popular game franchise has gatekeepers and Elitists! It’s highly annoying and extremely immature. I never understood why people are so concerned with how someone else plays video games. If I want to play Doom Eternal on the easiest difficulty I’m going to! If I want to grind for gear and Zenny in MH: GU, World and Rise, I will! I’m all for challenging and difficult games as well. I enjoyed the hell out of Horizon: Zero Dawn on the hardest difficulty.

@@niklasmitfussl2639 You're thinking Black X Armor. It uses Nakarkos parts, but primarily the Dark Pieces and Dark Stones you got from mining the giant regenerating sword in Pokke Village. The Black X set, with all of its pieces, gave BlightRes +10, FastCharge +10, Crit Draw +10 and Readiness +10, giving you Blightproof (immune to elemental blights), Focus (faster charge time), Critical Draw, and Sheath Control - a skill that combines the effects of Punish Draw (deals KO/exhaust damage with draw attacks) and Quick Sheath.

It made me really mad that they nerfed crit draw to only 60% affinity. It wasn’t the strongest greatsword style in world so I’m not sure where that nerf came from. @@Argnos2293 crit draw is still really good in rise, while it doesn't grant 100% affinity anymore it grants 60% for ~2.5 secs after the draw attack meaning you can easily get crits with the first 3 or so attacks of faster weapons, even on greatsword its still good, i run a critdraw surging strikes build myself and it still rocks in the damage and mobility aspect.

The GS is powerful with this build for sure, but I feel like most of the work came from your positioning. Not just hitting the head every time, but also walking just outside the Rathian attacks and then immediately back in to attack was incredible.
